Chargemaster Consultant

Chargemaster Consultant (Remote) Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Chargemaster Consultant to join our growing healthcare consulting team. This position plays a critical role in helping healthcare organizations optimize revenue cycle performance by ensuring Chargemaster accuracy, regulatory compliance, and effective charge capture processes. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in healthcare coding, billing, Chargemaster maintenance, reimbursement methodologies, and revenue cycle management. This individual will collaborate with clients and internal teams to improve billing accuracy, maximize reimbursement opportunities, and maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer regulations. This is a fully remote position for an organized, analytical professional who enjoys solving complex reimbursement and billing challenges. Key Responsibilities Chargemaster Management Maintain and update client Chargemaster files to ensure accuracy and compliance. Review and update billing codes, charge descriptions, pricing, and reimbursement data. Perform ongoing Chargemaster audits and recommend improvements. Manage annual CPT, HCPCS, and Medicare fee schedule updates. Maintain the master Chargemaster database used across client engagements. Revenue Cycle Optimization Analyze charge capture data and identify opportunities to improve reimbursement. Perform quarterly reimbursement and charge capture analysis. Assist clients in improving billing workflows and revenue integrity. Recommend pricing strategies and new charge structures when appropriate. Regulatory Compliance Stay current on Medicare, Medicaid, CPT, HCPCS, and reimbursement regulations. Ensure client Chargemasters remain compliant with federal and state requirements. Support compliance reviews, audits, and billing investigations. Research reimbursement questions and provide recommendations to clients. Data Analysis & Reporting Analyze billing and reimbursement trends using Excel and reporting tools. Prepare reports and recommendations based on financial and operational data. Develop meaningful reporting to support client decision-making. Client Support & Collaboration Partner with clinical, finance, coding, and revenue cycle teams. Provide education and guidance regarding Chargemaster best practices. Assist clients with billing questions, pricing structure, and charge capture processes. Collaborate with third-party payers to resolve billing issues when necessary. Required Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in Chargemaster management, medical coding, charge capture, revenue cycle, or healthcare billing. Experience working in multiple hospital systems or healthcare organizations preferred. Strong knowledge of Medicare regulations, Medicaid reimbursement, CPT & HCPCS coding, Revenue Cycle Management, and Charge Capture. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including VLOOKUP, SUMIF, Pivot Tables, Charts, Formulas & Functions, and Data Analysis. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, Health Information Management, or related field (or equivalent experience). Experience with RPMS, Cerner, and Epic. Microsoft Access experience is a plus. Experience supporting Indian Health Services (IHS), Tribal Hospitals, or Tribal Clinics is highly desirable. Previous Chargemaster management experience strongly preferred. Work Environment Fully remote position . Standard business hours (may vary by client needs). Prolonged periods of sitting while working at a computer. Frequent use of telephone and virtual meeting platforms.
