Position Title: Chemistry Supplies Coordinator Position Type: Full time Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Categories: Staff Non-exempt Job Summary: Bucknell University's Department of Chemistry seeks a Chemistry Supplies Coordinator. This position researches and purchases items needed for the Chemistry department; distributes orders and tracks expenditures. This individual schedules preventative maintenance and repair for equipment, maintains stockroom and chemical inventories and ensures safe and successful laboratory operations. Reports directly to the Department Chair. Work Setting: On-campus work, lab environment. This position is a full-time (37.5 hours/week; 12 months/year), benefits-eligible, non-exempt, staff position. Job Duties: What You Will Do: Researches and purchases items needed for the department, and works with procurement and (or) vendors to coordinate receipt and distribution of incoming inventory while maintaining detailed records Completes reports to provide tracking and visibility of stockroom expenditures Schedules preventative maintenance and repairs to ensure equipment is in proper working order. Monitors supplies and maintains stockroom and chemical inventories, and interfaces with a database of chemicals. May recruit, hire, train and manage student employees to ensure safe and successful laboratory operation as needed. Serves as primary liaison with the Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and serves on the University’s Safety Committee Works closely with the Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and lab instructors to ensure availability of safety information and proper disposal of chemical/hazardous waste. Supervisory Responsibility Supervises Student Workers/Volunteers/Interns. May recommend the following: hiring, disciplinary action, staffing assignments, and scheduling. What You Will Bring: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology or related field Working knowledge of chemical principles related to (1) preparing reagents and chemicals for instructional purposes, (2) safe handling of chemicals and lab safety, and (3) hazardous waste disposal protocols Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse community of faculty, lab instructors, students and staff. Proficiency with standard computer software No previous experience required Preferred Qualifications: 1 or more years stockroom, inventory management, or related experience Purchasing experience Strong organizational skills Ability to adapt to the ever-changing needs of an educational environment Physical Demands: Ability to lift 25 lbs and to climb a ladder. Job Exempt: No Salary Range: 18.40-23.00 The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
