Why join SUBCO
The internet's backbone isn't in the cloud. It's on the ocean floor, and we put it there.
When a video call connects Sydney to Singapore in under 100 milliseconds, or a cloud file reaches the other side of the world in the blink of an eye, that’s undersea cable infrastructure at work. SUBCO designs, builds and operates high-capacity submarine cable systems linking Australia to Asia, the United States, and beyond.
In September 2026, we announced the APX programme; three hypercable systems spanning over 40,000 kilometres. The single largest subsea build ever undertaken by a carrier in the Indo-Pacific.
With $3 billion in infrastructure projects underway, SUBCO is not a startup finding its feet. We're not a slow-moving incumbent watching from the sidelines. We're an Australian, founder-led company scaling fast, doing work that shapes how entire regions connect to the global digital economy. And right now, we're building the team to make it happen!
The Opportunity
SUBCO is seeking an experienced Group Chief Financial Officer to join our Executive Team. Reporting directly to the Co-CEOs, you will build and lead a world-class finance function that supports the deployment of $3+ billion in infrastructure projects across the Indo-Pacific region.
This is a foundational role at a critical inflection point. You'll establish robust financial systems, processes, and controls, and drive automation across the function. You'll integrate financial insights into strategic decisions, and ensure we have the governance, rigour, and foresight to support rapid growth. Your work will directly enable SUBCO's ability to execute complex, capital-intensive submarine cable projects while maintaining financial discipline and transparency.
This role can be located in either Brisbane or Melbourne.

- Manage critical relationships with auditors, lenders, and regulatory stakeholders, ensuring confidence in the organisation’s financial position and reporting
- Lead transformation within the finance function modernising and automating systems, embedding operational excellence and building the team’s capability to support a rapidly scaling enterprise
About you
- CA/CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification (non-negotiable), with a strong grounding in financial accounting and external reporting
- Demonstrated tenure as a CFO of a multi-national, multi-entity enterprise (capital-intensive industries highly regarded)
- Deep technical expertise in financial reporting standards, group consolidation, statutory compliance and audit processes
- Proven track record designing and implementing financial controls frameworks, policies and governance structures in complex organisations
- Experience selecting, implementing or transforming ERP and financial reporting platforms, with a focus on data integrity and process automation
- Multi-jurisdiction financial reporting and tax compliance experience, including familiarity with Australian tax consolidation rules, transfer pricing and cross-border obligations
- Ability to operate strategically and hands-on in a small team environment
