Bucknell University seeks a Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to lead the Office of Human Resources through a period of renewal. This is a hands-on leadership role for a builder and operator who can stabilize the team, sharpen service delivery, and implement a redesigned operating model.The University has recently completed a culture and climate assessment and is redesigning the HR function in response. The CHRO will inherit a clear roadmap and a mandate to execute it, working in close partnership with the President and senior leadership. Select strategic and board-facing responsibilities are retained at the cabinet level, allowing the CHRO to concentrate on building a stable, responsive, and trusted function.

- This is a full-time office/on campus role
Work Schedule:
- 52 weeks per year, 40 hours per week
What You Will Do:
- Lead HR operations end to end: HR service delivery, HRIS and data (Workday), process design, and the operational infrastructure that keeps the function running.
- Manage compensation and benefits execution, including salary structure administration, the University-backed mortgage guarantee, and wellness programs, and partner with finance on annual salary and benefit budgets.
- Administer the University’s benefit programs, including the retirement and health plans and the $42 million self-insured health plan.
- Run the annual performance management cycle and related talent development processes.
- Manage employee relations, including confidential investigations and related actions.
- Partner on Title IX and student employment with the Coordinator and General Counsel, under cabinet-level oversight.
- Develop and administer HR and Title IX or EEO policies in compliance with applicable laws.
- Produce people analytics from Workday and HRIS data.
- Oversee the processing of personnel transactions and appointments and the policies that govern them.
- Serve on shared governance groups and board committees as required.

What You Will Bring:
Required for the Role:
- Bachelor’s degree Human Resources, Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, Law, Social Work, Counseling or a related field.
- Ten (10) years of HR leadership experience, with a strong operational and service delivery track record, preferrable in higher education.
- Six (6) or more years of supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading HR operations, including HR service delivery, HRIS and data (Workday or comparable), process design, and the operational infrastructure that keeps the function running day to day.
- Demonstrated success stabilizing a team and implementing structural or process change.
- Strong command of talent acquisition and employee relations.
- Familiarity with Title IX and EEO compliance.
- Familiarity with Compensation Practices.
- Clear, steady communications skills, sound judgement and high emotional intelligence.
- A collaborative, hands-on and transparent leadership style, with the highest professional integrity.
Preferred, but not Required:
- Master's Degree in a related field
- SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification
- Association of Workplace Investigator (AWI) certification or equivalent investigation training
- Experience in Higher Education

225,000.00-296,000.00The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.

The Community
Lewisburg (pop. 5,700) is located in central Pennsylvania and features beautiful Victorian homes, the restored art deco Campus Theatre (owned by the University), a variety of restaurants, shops and boutiques, and the Barnes & Noble at Bucknell University Bookstore.
