Chief Platform Officer
Resident AdvisorAbout RA
Resident Advisor has been a home for electronic music culture since 2001. Event discovery, ticketing, news and long-form editorial, artist profiles, original films, and a weekly mix series two decades deep. Around 7 million people use the web platform every month, with a wider audience across our apps and other channels. Underneath the platform sits a network of contributors and city managers across dozens of cities, which is how we stay connected to the scenes we cover rather than reporting on them from a distance. RA is 25 years old, independent, B.Corp certified and intent on being indispensable to the artists, promoters and audiences who make this culture.
Purpose of the role
RA's platform is the product people experience: the RA Guide apps, ra.co, the tools promoters use to run their businesses, and the support that sits behind all of it, serving fans and promoters across more than 50 countries.
The Chief Platform Officer owns how that platform develops: what gets built, why, in what order, and the standard it needs to meet.
This is a product role rather than an engineering one. Engineering delivery, infrastructure, DevOps and technical architecture sit with the Chief Technical Officer. The Chief Platform Officer sets product direction and the standard; the Chief Technical Officer owns how it gets built and run. The two roles must work as a close partnership, and we will be looking for evidence that you can do that well.
We want an AI-native product leader: someone who treats AI as a fundamental change in how products get designed, built, tested, supported and operated, rather than as a feature category. RA is a small company, with just over 100 full-time staff and a large global surface area. The opportunity is to create real leverage through better products, sharper automation and modern ways of working.
You will own Product, Product Design, Data & Analytics, Platform Support and RA's AI operating model. The goal is a better product for the people who use RA and a better organisation for the people who work inside it. This is not an AI research role: success is measured in better products and a more capable company, not in novelty.
Key responsibilities
- Own the product strategy and roadmap across RA's platform: the RA Guide apps on iOS and Android, ra.co, promoter and venue tools, Scanner and what comes next. Set clear priorities and sequencing so the company understands what is being built and why.
- Set the standard for mobile as a first-class product environment. Mobile is where much of RA's audience experiences the platform, and where discovery, community and ticketing have the most room to develop.
- Own RA's AI operating model: how AI is used across product development, support, data and company operations, and where it becomes part of the customer product itself. Set clear standards for responsible use, covering customer and promoter data, generated content and product design.
- Own Customer and Promoter Support as part of the platform. Be accountable for service quality, and use what support sees to identify recurring product problems and opportunities for automation and self-service.
- Make promoter self-service materially better. Work with Growth and Revenue on acquisition, onboarding and activation so more promoters succeed on RA without manual intervention.
- Own Data & Analytics as a company capability. Ensure teams work from trustworthy information and that RA builds data products worth the attention of promoters, artists and internal teams.
- Build the Product Solutions capability between Product and Revenue, so recurring commercial and promoter needs become scalable platform capabilities rather than one-off builds. Pricing architecture, margin floors and discount authority sit with Finance; this role builds the tooling that makes them work.
- Partner with the Chief Technical Officer on delivery, planning, technical trade-offs and platform investment. Product ambition and engineering capability need to develop together.
- Work with the Global Director of Performance on marketplace health, including listings quality, promoter experience, SLAs and trading readiness.
- Work with the CEO and leadership team on how AI and technology change the shape of RA over time, including which capabilities we build in-house, which roles change, and where software should replace process.
- Lead and develop the product organisation, including the Director of Product, Product Design, Data & Analytics and Platform Support. Build strong leaders and clear ownership beneath you.
We’re looking for
- Significant experience leading product organisations, typically ten years or more, including several years at Head of Product, VP Product, Chief Product Officer or equivalent level, managing managers.
- Depth in consumer mobile, with evidence of owning products people use frequently and at meaningful scale.
- Genuine AI fluency. You have shipped AI into live products, changed how a product organisation works with it, and understand where it falls short as well as where it delivers.
- Experience in marketplaces or two-sided platforms, where a consumer product and a business product have to develop with the same team.
- A track record of using support, data and customer research together to drive product decisions.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across Product, Design, Data or Customer Operations.
- Comfort working closely with engineering leadership while holding a clear line between product and technical ownership.
- Strong judgement and prioritisation. You can say no, make trade-offs explicit and hold a coherent strategy under competing demands.
- The range to set a multi-year direction and still look closely at an onboarding flow or a support queue when it matters.
- Organisational judgement. You understand that putting technology into a company is as much about incentives, ownership and behaviour as it is about software.
- Clear, direct communication, and the confidence to challenge the CEO and leadership team when priorities and platform strategy pull apart.
- Experience in ticketing, events, music, media or creator platforms is an advantage.
- A passion for electronic music and an interest in the global electronic music community.
What we offer you
- Generous annual leave policies aimed at promoting work-life balance.
- Flexibility in working arrangements, offering hybrid or remote work options based on role requirements and location.
- Matching pension schemes and/or 401k.
- Comprehensive staff wellbeing initiatives, featuring regular activities and workplace programmes to support mental and physical health. This includes discounted ClassPass memberships and custom-fitted earplugs.
- Company-led social events, team lunches, and discounts on RA merch.
- Paid annual volunteering allowance, encouraging contributions to community projects and charities you care about.
- Regular company-wide Q&A’s with senior leadership, along with ongoing virtual educational training sessions for all staff.
- A transparent internal company culture committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (see: https://ra.co/about/diversity).
- Active involvement in community projects within the electronic music community (see: https://ra.co/about/community).
More about RA
We are independent and we intend to stay that way. 25 years in, RA answers to the culture it came from rather than to outside stakeholders. That is what enables us to make decisions on a longer term basis.
Our staff, contributors and international teams are not observers. They are part of the scenes we cover, and that is what we hire for. Craft first, and then a genuine stake in this music rather than just a job in it.
RA has been B Corp certified since 2024, which holds us to standards on social and environmental impact we would want to meet regardless of the badge.
We especially welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, experiences, gender identities, and sexual orientations. We aim for our team to reflect the communities we engage with.
Our values
- Electronic music is art.
- We celebrate the progressive values that underpin electronic music.
- We advocate for a more inclusive and equitable electronic music community.
- We honour the past, present and future of electronic music.
- We use innovation to empower the community.
- We choose honesty over gain and purpose over profit.
- We're always front left.
