Job Title: Civil / Geotechnical DrafterJob Description

This Civil/Geotechnical Drafter role supports a growing geotechnical and environmental consulting team during a period of increased project demand. You will focus on drafting and production support for geotechnical investigations, seismic and soil instability studies, mapping projects, and civil site-related deliverables. You will work closely with engineers, technical staff, and marketing team members in a fast-paced, collaborative consulting environment and play a key part in producing client-ready plans, figures, and technical graphics with potential for longer-term engagement as project volume increases.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and update civil, environmental, and geotechnical drawings using AutoCAD and GIS platforms.
  • Support drafting deliverables for seismic hazard studies, soil instability analyses, site investigations, and mapping projects.
  • Develop client-ready plans, exhibits, figures, and technical graphics that clearly communicate technical information.
  • Assist with overflow drafting and production support on large projects during peak workload periods.
  • Interpret geotechnical data, site conditions, borehole information, and mapping documentation to inform drafting work.
  • Coordinate closely with engineers, technical specialists, and marketing staff to meet project deadlines and deliverables.
  • Maintain drawing standards, apply quality control practices, and organize project documents and files.
  • Participate in training and knowledge transfer activities to support continuity of project work and team capabilities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and remain responsive and engaged with project stakeholders.
  • Ask questions, take direction, and adapt to changing project priorities and workflows.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2 years of drafting experience in civil, geotechnical, environmental, survey, or related consulting environments.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD for civil and geotechnical drafting.
  • Experience working with GIS platforms and geospatial datasets.
  • Understanding of civil site plans, mapping, and technical drafting practices.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining responsive and engaged with project teams.
  • Willingness to ask questions, learn new processes, and adapt to changing project priorities.
  • Associate degree in GIS, Drafting Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting geotechnical or environmental consulting projects.
  • Familiarity with Civil 3D for civil drafting and design.
  • Experience with geodata management and mapping workflows.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Exposure to MicroStation, gINT, Bentley OpenGround, or similar industry software.
  • Interest in geology, environmental science, soils, or earth sciences.
  • Comfort working in a collaborative, team-oriented consulting environment.
  • Ability to take direction, learn quickly, and contribute to production support during peak project demand.
  • Affinity for detail-oriented work and maintaining high-quality drafting standards.
Work Environment

This position is based in an in-office, collaborative consulting environment, typically with one or two days of remote flexibility per week. You will work closely with engineers, technical specialists, and marketing staff, using technologies such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS platforms, and industry tools including MicroStation, gINT, and Bentley/OpenGround. The culture emphasizes teamwork, responsiveness, and knowledge sharing. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Tigard, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
