Building a sustainable future, together.

At WSP, we design the future of our communities. As one of the world’s leading engineering and professional services firms, we bring together expertise across transport and infrastructure, buildings, energy, environment, water and advisory. Across Central Europe, we combine local knowledge with international reach to deliver projects that create a positive, lasting impact for clients, communities and the environment.

Our Power and Energy Services team brings together structural design expertise within a multidisciplinary and international environment. We support infrastructure, industrial and energy projects, combining technical rigour with access to WSP’s wider specialist network.

The opportunity

We are looking for a Civil Structural Engineer to join our Power and Energy Services team in either Milan, Padua, Pisa, Priolo Gargallo, Rende, Rome or Turin. In this role, you will support the design and verification of structural works for infrastructure, industrial and energy projects, progressively taking greater responsibility for calculations, models and project deliverables.

You will work closely with senior engineers, CAD and BIM technicians, and colleagues across other technical disciplines, contributing to multidisciplinary infrastructure, industrial and energy projects. The exact scope of the role can be adapted depending on the successful candidate’s experience, seniority and technical background.

How you will make an impact

Your work will support the Power and Energy Services team, helping us deliver high-quality outcomes for our clients and communities.

· Structural design and verification: Support concept, detailed and construction design for reinforced concrete, steel and, where required, masonry structures, carrying out calculations and design checks under senior supervision.

· Modelling and analysis: Develop calculation models and structural analyses using specialist engineering software, reviewing input data and results for accuracy, traceability and alignment with design criteria.

· Project deliverables: Prepare calculation reports, technical notes, specifications, quantity take-offs and other documentation, and contribute to the production and review of structural drawings and construction details with CAD and BIM technicians.

· Multidisciplinary coordination: Coordinate assigned activities with other technical disciplines, participate in project meetings and help maintain clear, accurate information across the design process.

· Site support and quality: Provide technical support during site visits, construction and works verification activities when required, while applying company quality, health and safety procedures.

The team around you

You will be part of the Power and Energy Services structural design team, working across infrastructure, industrial and energy projects and supported by WSP’s wider technical and professional network.

The culture: A collaborative, multidisciplinary and international environment with guidance from experienced professionals.
The projects: Innovative and technically challenging structural work across infrastructure, industrial and energy projects.
The opportunity: A structured technical development path with increasing responsibility, global collaboration and opportunities to build coordination skills over time.

What you will bring to the role

We focus on the essential qualifications, skills and experience needed for success, while welcoming different technical backgrounds and career paths.

· A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, preferably focused on Structural Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.

· Approximately 2 to 5 years of experience in structural design or assessment; relevant internships and academic collaborations are recognised as experience.

· Sound knowledge of structural mechanics, structural design principles and seismic engineering fundamentals; basic knowledge of applicable Italian technical standards and Eurocodes; and the ability to read and interpret civil, structural and architectural drawings.

· Knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel and Word, and at least one structural analysis and design software package.

· Preferred: Experience with SAP2000, ETABS, MIDAS, Straus7, Robot Structural Analysis or equivalent; Revit and BIM methodologies; IDEA StatiCa or equivalent; Mathcad, MATLAB or Python; and registration with the Italian Professional Engineering Body or an ongoing qualification process.

· Professional proficiency in Italian and English.

· Accuracy, analytical thinking, a quality-focused and collaborative working style, and the ability to organise your workload and meet agreed deadlines.

· Preferred: Academic or professional exposure to infrastructure, industrial or energy projects.

We do not expect you to know everything. We are looking for curiosity, motivation and willingness to learn. From day one, you will contribute to real projects, receive guidance from experienced professionals and progressively build your technical confidence
