Somerset Bridge Group are seeking a Claims Analytics Analyst to deliver impactful claims insight that supports pricing strategy, portfolio performance and data-driven decision-making across the business.
As a Claims Analytics Analyst, you will develop and enhance reporting, dashboards and management information (MI) that provide visibility of claims performance across the portfolio. Through proactive monitoring and analysis, you will identify emerging trends, potential risks and opportunities, helping the business make informed decisions and respond quickly to changes in claims experience.
You'll work closely with colleagues across Claims, Pricing, Underwriting and wider business teams to deliver clear, actionable insight, translating complex data into engaging and easy-to-understand recommendations. As your expertise develops, you'll have the opportunity to undertake more advanced analytical projects, applying statistical and modelling techniques to solve business challenges and influence strategic decision-making.
The role also requires a strong focus on data quality, governance and regulatory compliance, ensuring sensitive customer information is managed responsibly and in line with business and regulatory requirements.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Develop and maintain MI, dashboards and reporting to monitor claims performance and portfolio trends.
- Analyse claims data to identify emerging risks, opportunities and key performance drivers.
- Deliver regular and ad hoc insight to support Pricing, Underwriting and Claims decision-making.
- Support pricing strategy through analysis of claims frequency, severity and development trends.
- Contribute to the development of early warning indicators and performance monitoring tools.
- Monitor key claims KPIs, highlighting exceptions and recommending areas for further investigation.
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Claims, Pricing, Finance and operational teams to deliver insight-led improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting, analytics, processes and data quality.
- Ensure compliance with data governance standards, regulatory requirements and information security policies.
What you'll need:
- Strong data analysis and data manipulation skills, including extracting, cleansing, validating and reconciling large datasets.
- Experience producing high-quality MI, dashboards and reporting that support business decision-making.
- Good understanding of analytical and statistical techniques, with the ability to turn data into meaningful insights.
- Advanced Excel skills, including modelling, Power Query, PivotTables and spreadsheet controls.
- Experience querying and analysing data using SQL (Snowflake and/or Databricks knowledge desirable).
- Familiarity with Power BI or other data visualisation tools.
- Experience with Python, R or similar analytical tools would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong written communication skills, including documenting methodologies, definitions and analytical findings.
- Commercially minded with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Experience working with large transactional or time-series datasets would be beneficial.
