Since its inception, START has provided hope to cancer patients across global communities by offering access to cutting-edge clinical trials in the United States and Europe.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly analytical and collaborative Clinical Business Operations Manager, to serve as the critical link between Clinical Operations and Finance. This strategic role ensures that all clinical trial activities are accurately documented, reconciled, and translated into revenue-generating transactions while maintaining the highest standards of data integrity and compliance.

The successful candidate will oversee the accuracy of clinical research operational data, support billing dispute resolution, drive cross-functional collaboration, and help ensure that services performed within clinical trials are properly captured, validated, invoiced, and ultimately collected.

This position is ideal for a professional with experience in both clinical research operations and healthcare revenue cycle processes who enjoys solving complex problems, improving processes, and working across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reconciliation of clinical research data across CTMS and related systems.
  • Serve as the primary resource for sponsor and CRO billing inquiries, invoice disputes, and revenue-related investigations.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations, Research Nursing, Pharmacy, Regulatory, Finance, and Revenue Cycle teams to support accurate documentation, billing, and revenue capture.
  • Investigate and resolve operational, clinical, and financial discrepancies to minimize revenue leakage and ensure compliance.
  • Monitor study-level invoicing, payments, aging accounts, and revenue performance, identifying risks and escalation needs.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to data quality, billing accuracy, and operational effectiveness.
  • Lead reconciliation, audit, and process improvement initiatives to enhance data quality, operational efficiency, and financial performance.
  • Provide operational insights and reporting to support decision-making, forecasting, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Act as a liaison between internal stakeholders, sponsors, and CROs to ensure alignment, issue resolution, and successful study execution.

Key Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Health Sciences, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Clinical Research Operations, Clinical Research Finance, Healthcare Revenue Cycle, Healthcare Operations, or related areas.
  • Experience working with Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS), preferably OnCore.
  • Proven ability to reconcile data across multiple systems and resolve operational discrepancies.
  • Experience working in a regulated healthcare or clinical research environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Phase I Oncology Clinical Research.
  • Knowledge of sponsor billing, clinical trial revenue processes, and study financial workflows.
  • Experience partnering with sponsors, CROs, and finance teams.
  • Professional certifications such as CCRP, CRA, ACRP, or equivalent clinical research credentials.

Key Competencies

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across clinical, operational, financial, and external partner teams.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and prioritization abilities.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with experience using KPIs to drive performance.
  • Understanding of compliance, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
