Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

Under the direction of the Manager, Psychotherapy, the Clinician (Psychotherapy) will primarily be responsible for providing comprehensive clinical assessment, individual psychotherapy, group-based services, and psychoeducation within HF Care’s Youth & Family Team. This 1.0 FTE position combines delivery of individual/group psychotherapy with the development and facilitation of psychoeducational programming for youth and families.

The position is comprised of the development of psychoeducational content and facilitation of psychoeducation groups and psychotherapy for youth and families. The Clinician applies evidence-informed and evidence-based approaches, culturally responsive practice, and HF Care’s Whole Person and holistic wellness framework to support the mental health and wellbeing of individuals, families, and diverse communities.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

Psychoeducation & Psychotherapy for Youth and Families

Individual Psychotherapy

  • Provide individual psychotherapy to youth and family members addressing mental health concerns, family dynamics, stress, anxiety, mood challenges, and related issues.
  • Utilize trauma-informed, culturally attuned, recovery-oriented, and evidence-based approaches.
  • Familiarity in using measurement-based care tools (e.g. GAD-7, PHQ-9, HEADS-ED etc.)

Group Facilitation

  • Plan and facilitate psychoeducation groups for youth and families addressing mental health literacy, coping strategies, communication, wellbeing, and related topics.
  • Adapt psychoeducational content to be culturally sensitive, linguistically appropriate, and developmentally relevant.
  • Create engaging and interactive learning experiences that support reflection, skill development, and practical application.

Program Development

  • Develop culturally responsive and evidence-informed psychoeducational materials and program content tailored to the needs of youth and families.
  • Create curricula, resource materials, workshops, and other educational content aligned with HF Care’s organizational goals and the needs of the communities it serves.
  • Incorporate culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and accessible approaches into program design.

Integration & Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Coordinate with Youth & Family Services, Community Education, and Psychotherapy teams to support continuity of care and alignment of service pathways, including:
    • Attending monthly team meetings
    • Contributing to agency-wide client safety responsibilities (e.g. duty roster)
  • Participate in cross-program initiatives that support youth and family mental health and wellbeing.
  • Contribute clinical expertise to the development and integration of programs across HF Care.

Documentation, Evaluation & Quality Improvement

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical documentation in HF Care’s client database.
  • Support program evaluation activities and contribute to clinical quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in team meetings, case consultations, clinical supervision, and professional/clinical networks.


Requirements

Education and Experiences:
  • Registered and in good standing with the appropriate Ontario regulatory college (e.g., RSW, RP, OT Reg., or RN authorized to provide psychotherapy).
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. Training in evidence-based therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, ACT).
  • Demonstrated experience providing psychotherapy and conducting clinical assessments.
  • Experience facilitating psychoeducation and/or group-based interventions.
  • Experience working with youth and families is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proficiency in English, Mandarin, and/or Cantonese is required.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical assessment, psychotherapy, and psychosocial intervention approaches in a community setting, and with clients of low-income diverse backgrounds and needs
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience communicating case conceptualization to a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong crisis intervention and safety planning skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, communication, and clinical documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of community resources, the Mental Health Act, Child and Family Services Act, and other relevant legislation.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and group leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and effectively use electronic client record systems.
  • Vulnerable Sector Screening required.

Working Hours

  • Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work locations include HF Care offices, community settings, and virtual environments, as required.
  • ​Flexible work schedule, including some required evenings and weekends, based on program and service needs.
