Do you enjoy building reliable cloud data solutions and finding smarter ways to work? Join our Data, Analytics and Reporting team to develop our GCP data platform, automate manual processes and turn promising AI use cases into practical solutions.

SEB is a technology-driven financial institution where customer needs and business outcomes guide how we work. We offer opportunities to solve meaningful engineering challenges alongside skilled and supportive colleagues.

SEB is more than a bank. We are a technology-driven financial institution where everything starts from our customer needs and business outcomes. AI, data and modern engineering are natural parts of how we work, build and deliver value. From core banking platforms to agentic AI , automation, cybersecurity and cloud, we offer a broad tech landscape and many paths to grow. Together, we are shaping secure, responsible and future- proof solutions for our customers and society. Are you ready to take on a new challenge?

About the role

We build and operate a GCP data platform supporting reporting and analytics, often driven by legal and regulatory requirements. We also enable other teams to develop and publish business data products within our domain.

Our responsibilities cover the full lifecycle of our solutions: application code, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, access configuration, monitoring and production troubleshooting. You will contribute across these areas and take ownership of your deliveries from design through ongoing operation.

Alongside our core platform work, we have AI use cases to develop and many opportunities to improve how we build, operate and support our data solutions. We are looking for someone curious and proactive who can recognise these opportunities, challenge inefficient processes and help turn ideas into useful, maintainable solutions. You will have room to explore and contribute in this area as part of a broader cloud and data engineering role.

You will work closely with engineers, business stakeholders and our Product Owner to understand requirements, make technical decisions and improve the platform.

What you will do

  • Design, build and maintain data pipelines covering ingestion, orchestration, transformation and delivery to consumers.
  • Provision and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform and reusable infrastructure components.
  • Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated checks and deployment practices.
  • Investigate production issues across pipelines, infrastructure and service dependencies, and implement improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Build monitoring, alerting and data quality controls that make failures and delays visible and actionable.
  • Develop reusable Python components and engineering patterns that simplify maintenance and support other teams.
  • Apply appropriate access controls and data governance practices.
  • Collaborate on solution design, contribute to PI planning and help onboard new teams and consumers.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify manual work and improve platform operations and user workflows through automation.
  • Help develop and evaluate AI use cases, choosing approaches that fit the problem and integrating useful solutions into our existing workflows.

Our stack includes Python, SQL, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Composer/Airflow, Dataform, Terraform and Git-based CI/CD.

To thrive in this role, we believe you have

You have several years of relevant software, cloud or data engineering experience and can independently take a delivery from requirements to production, while collaborating on wider platform decisions.

We would like you to bring:

  • Strong Python and SQL skills, with experience writing maintainable code and appropriate automated tests.
  • Practical experience building and operating production data pipelines, including investigating failures and implementing lasting fixes.
  • Hands-on cloud infrastructure experience, preferably on GCP, with an understanding of service configuration, dependencies and access controls.
  • Infrastructure as Code experience, preferably Terraform, including maintaining and troubleshooting existing infrastructure.
  • Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and working with Git, pull requests and code reviews.
  • Experience with orchestration tools, such as Airflow, including scheduling, dependencies, retries and troubleshooting.
  • An understanding of data architecture and modelling, including how data is prepared and exposed for reporting and analytics.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging and data quality controls for production solutions.
  • An improvement mindset: you question repetitive work, look for opportunities to automate and take initiative to turn ideas into practical improvements.
  • An interest in applying AI to engineering and business problems, with a willingness to experiment and assess whether a solution delivers useful results.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to explain technical decisions and trade-offs clearly.

You do not need experience with every tool in our stack. We value sound engineering judgement, practical ownership and the ability to learn and transfer knowledge between technologies.

It would also be valuable to have

  • Deeper experience with GCP services such as BigQuery, Pub/Sub and Cloud Run.
  • Experience with Dataform or dbt.
  • Containerisation experience, for example with Docker.
  • Experience with event-driven systems and streaming, including retries, duplicate handling and idempotency.
  • Knowledge of dimensional modelling or Data Vault.
  • Experience with data catalogues, metadata, lineage or governance tooling.
  • Practical experience using LLMs in development workflows or building AI-enabled tools and applications, through professional work or personal projects.

What we offer

  • Skilled, caring and collaborative colleagues.
  • The opportunity to influence a cloud data platform supporting important business and regulatory needs.
  • A broad engineering role with ownership and opportunities to develop.
  • Opportunities to explore AI use cases and turn automation ideas into solutions used by the team and our consumers.
  • Attractive compensation and benefits.
  • Access to SEB staff banking with exclusive benefits.
