Cloud Data Migration Architect

Job Description

We are looking for a GCP Data Architect with specific experience migrating Teradata to BigQuery; Teradata is a firm requirement. Additional experience with Oracle (Exadata) or Snowflake is strongly preferred. The role requires enterprise-wide, large-scale migration experience (hundreds of TB). It is hybrid, mostly remote with EU travel roughly 1–2 times every two months, preferably based in Italy, or anywhere in Europe, for an initial 6 months with possible extension and an immediate start. Fluent English is mandatory; Italian is strongly preferred.

Core Responsibilities

• Migration Leadership: Lead large-scale, enterprise-wide migrations from Teradata to BigQuery.
• Architecture: Define end-to-end Cloud Database, Data Lake, and data migration strategies as a GCP Data Architect.
• Hands-on Delivery: Work hands-on with Databricks and DataProc, and support Data Streaming SIG initiatives.
• Optimization: Apply advanced SQL tuning to optimize complex workloads.
  
  

Qualifications And Experience

• Extensive experience as a GCP Data Architect leading large-scale migrations to BigQuery.
• Legacy database expertise: Teradata (mandatory); Oracle / Exadata preferred.
• Proven track record in end-to-end Cloud Database, Data Lake, and data migration strategies.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks and DataProc.
• Development skills in Java or Python, plus advanced SQL tuning for complex workload optimization.
