Cloud Infrastructure Engineer – SRE at BairesDev
In this role, you'll shape how internal engineering teams build, operate, and rely on cloud infrastructure. This is a hands-on position that combines infrastructure as code with site reliability engineering, giving you ownership over how safely and reliably teams can self-serve infrastructure. This is your opportunity to set technical direction across cloud, identity, and platform services, working closely with multiple engineering groups.
What You'll Do
- Design and maintain infrastructure as code across GCP and AWS using Terraform, OpenTofu, or Terragrunt.
- Build reusable patterns and automation that enable safe self-service for engineering teams.
- Own site reliability engineering for internal platform services, including observability, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
- Establish SLOs, monitoring, alerting, and operational standards for internal services.
- Diagnose and maintain identity and access infrastructure, including Keycloak and FreeIPA.
- Build infrastructure tooling and automation in Python or Go.
- Operate Kubernetes and related cloud platform infrastructure.
- Lead architecture decisions across Platform, Systems, IT, InfoSec, and product engineering, and produce architecture documents, runbooks, and standards.
- 8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure or site reliability engineering.
- Strong proficiency in infrastructure as code on GCP and AWS (Terraform, OpenTofu, or Terragrunt).
- Background in site reliability engineering for internal platform services, including observability, incident response, root-cause analysis, and reliability improvement.
- Experience with multi-cloud networking across GCP, AWS, and Azure (routing, segmentation, firewalls, NAT, DNS, VPN, and private connectivity).
- Familiarity with identity and access infrastructure, particularly Keycloak and FreeIPA, along with exposure to Okta, SCIM, OIDC, or SAML.
- Proficiency in Python or Go for infrastructure automation.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and cloud platform infrastructure.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to lead cross-organizational technical decisions and author architecture documents, decision records, and runbooks.
- Advanced proficiency in English.
- Experience building out observability platforms (Grafana, Prometheus, Mimir, Loki, CloudWatch, PagerDuty).
- Knowledge of infrastructure security practices embedded in IaC, such as policy-as-code, automated validation, and rollback.
- Familiarity with private access technologies (Tailscale, Headscale, WireGuard, bastions).
- Experience with cloud-specific networking services (AWS Transit Gateway, Cloud WAN, PrivateLink, Route 53, GCP Cloud Router, Shared VPC, Private Service Connect, Azure Virtual WAN, Private Link).
- Knowledge of BGP and hybrid cloud-to-data-center networking.
- Experience with NetBox or comparable IPAM/DCIM tools.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes CNI or advanced Kubernetes networking.
- Experience mentoring and distributing technical knowledge across teams.
