DEPARTMENT : Health Information Management (HIM) JOB TITLE : Coder - Certified Location : Remote SHIFT : 80 Hours Bi-Weekly, 1st Shift Benefits : Eligible JOB SUMMARY We are looking for a professional who has a certification in medical coding that can assist us with coding medical documentation. To ensure success you need to make judicious decisions on which codes to assign in each instance, and function to a high level of accuracy. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS Reviews and analyzes medical records and operative reports to accurately assign a procedure code (CPT or ICD-10-PCS) and diagnosis code (ICD-10-CM) according to CPT and ICD-10-CM coding guidelines. Reviews documentation for query opportunities to improve provider documentation. Maintains coding accuracy of 95% and productivity standards. Works in conjunction with the HIM Supervisor on follow-up and resolution of coding related denials. Qualifications Experience Two years of experience in acute care/outpatient hospital coding or Physician Professional Coding or equivalent experience Certifications Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent Skills/Competencies Detail oriented Organizational skills Good verbal and written communication Professionalism and confidentiality Computer Skills Education High School Diploma or GED Required
