The Position:

The Commercial Development Manager plays a key leadership role in driving business growth, strengthening commercial relationships, and developing high-performing teams across our global wholesale operations.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this position is responsible for guiding our Business Development, Account Management, and Customer Retention functions, with a strong focus on expanding market opportunities, growing revenue, and building lasting customer and supplier partnerships.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic, results-driven leader who combines strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to coaching, collaboration, and business development. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of BVL Wholesale while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Business Development, Account Management, and Customer Retention teams.
  • Drive new customer and supplier acquisition, expanding BVL's global account base and commercial opportunities.
  • Research emerging markets, industries, and potential customers and suppliers to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Develop and execute business development strategies focused on revenue growth, gross profit, and long-term partnerships.
  • Mentor developing Account Managers through training, coaching, and performance management, preparing them to progress into Senior Account Manager roles.
  • Provide hands-on support with customer relationships, negotiations, sales strategies, and commercial challenges.
  • Lead the Customer Retention function, establishing strategies to reactivate inactive customers and suppliers, strengthen relationships, and reduce account attrition.
  • Support Retention Specialists in resolving customer concerns, overcoming barriers, and negotiating renewed partnerships.
  • Establish clear team objectives, performance metrics, and accountability for business development, account growth, and retention.
  • Monitor sales pipelines, customer engagement, conversion rates, and team performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Build and maintain strategic customer and supplier relationships through client visits, negotiations, and industry events.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Wholesale Operations and other departments to align commercial priorities and support overall business growth.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes and experience:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
  • A demonstrated passion for business development, relationship building, and identifying new commercial opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the confidence to engage with customers, suppliers, and colleagues across global markets.
  • A strategic and entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities, solve problems, and drive meaningful business results.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, assess performance, and make informed decisions.
  • A collaborative, hands-on leadership style that promotes accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Previous experience in sales, business development, account management, or team leadership is considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Commerce, Marketing, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in international markets, wholesale distribution, or related industries is considered an asset.
  • Spanish language proficiency is considered an asset, given the global nature of our business and relationships across Latin America.
  • A willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within a dynamic, evolving business environment.
  • Alignment with the principles of being Kind, Innovative, and Trusted.
