About us

Exergy3 is a Scottish deep tech company developing and commercialising a high-temperature Thermal Energy Storage (TES) system for industrial decarbonisation. Our technology converts surplus electricity into stored heat, delivered as process steam or hot air directly into industrial plant, displacing natural gas and reducing industrial carbon emissions without requiring customers to redesign their processes.

We are looking to hire a Commercial & Energy Analyst to be based in either Edinburgh or Munich to support the company as we scale commercially.

Heat is half the problem. We're fixing it.

Industrial heat is one of the hardest-to-crack sources of emissions on the planet. At Exergy3, we're building the technology to change that, and we need a sharp commercial mind to help turn breakthrough tech into a business that scales.

As our Commercial & Energy Analyst, you'll be the data engine behind commercial decisions. You'll bring the market analysis, financial insight and energy-sector intelligence that shape our strategy, sharpen our pricing, uncover new opportunities and drive our growth. Your work won't sit in a folder: it will decide which deals we chase, how we price them and where we go next.

We're a start-up, so no two weeks look the same. If you can be flexible to both customer and company needs, and can be ready to jump in and support any area of the business, this is the role for you.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct market analysis on energy pricing, supply-demand trends, regulation, and competitors to inform business decisions.
  • Build and maintain financial models to assess project viability, pricing strategies, investments, and commercial risks.
  • Analyse complex datasets, track KPIs, and generate actionable insights for senior management.
  • Monitor energy sector developments, including renewables, energy transition, policy changes, and emerging technologies.
  • Support business development through bid writing, contract evaluation, commercial negotiations, and opportunity assessment.
  • Identify financial, regulatory, market, and commercial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate flexibly across the business to support customer and company needs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a commercial or energy analyst role.
  • Experience with financial modelling, data analysis, and reporting tools, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with energy markets, pricing mechanisms, and broader industry trends.
  • Professional proficiency in English.
  • Eligibility to work in Germany or the United Kingdom.

Nice to have

  • Experience within the energy sector or a related industry.
  • Use of emerging AI tools and their application to modelling and analysis.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or other energy-market data platforms.
  • Experience presenting complex data clearly to senior management and colleagues.
  • Professional proficiency in German.
  • Competitive salary (£44,000–£55,000/ €52,000–€65,000)
  • Stock options
  • 34 days annual leave (UK) inc. public holidays
  • Company pension (5%)
  • Hybrid working - 2-3 days in office
  • 35 hour working week
  • Personal learning allowance
  • Up to 15 days of remote work from abroad each year
  • Cycle to Work scheme/JobRad
  • Additional benefits to be disclosed at interview stage
