We are looking for an experienced Commercial Fencing Draftsman / Detailer to join our team remotely. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate technical drawings, fencing layouts, shop drawings, and detailed plans for commercial and high-security fencing projects.

The ideal candidate has experience in fencing, steel fabrication, structural detailing, civil construction, or a similar industry, with strong proficiency in AutoCAD and the ability to interpret architectural, engineering, and construction drawings.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed fencing layouts, plans, elevations, sections, and shop drawings based on architectural and construction plans.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and site plans to identify fencing requirements.
• Produce accurate drawings for various fencing systems, including:
• Chainwire / chain-link fencing
• 358 anti-climb mesh fencing
• Palisade fencing
• Tubular fencing
• High-security fencing
• Temporary fencing and hoarding
• Storage cages
• Swing and sliding gates
• Prepare detailed gate drawings, including gate frames, posts, clear openings, hinges, tracks, and automation requirements.
• Develop fabrication and installation details, including post locations, spacing, dimensions, fixing details, and connections.
• Prepare drawings for fence transitions, corners, returns, changes in level, and other site-specific conditions.
• Incorporate site measurements, mark-ups, engineering changes, and client revisions into drawings.
• Prepare as-built drawings when required.
• Ensure drawings are accurate, clearly dimensioned, and compliant with project requirements.
• Coordinate with estimators, project managers, engineers, builders, and other stakeholders to resolve drawing queries.
• Review drawings for errors, inconsistencies, and constructability issues before submission.
• Maintain organized drawing files, revisions, and project documentation.
• Assist the estimating team with take-offs and measurements from drawings when required.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of experience as a Draftsman, Detailer, CAD Technician, or similar role.
• Previous experience in commercial fencing, steel fabrication, structural detailing, civil construction, or related industries is highly preferred.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret:
• Architectural drawings
• Civil drawings
• Structural drawings
• Site plans
• Construction specifications
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, dimensions, scales, and technical details.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Experience working with Australian construction projects is highly desirable.

• PDF markup/measurement software such as Bluebeam

Desirable:

• Revit
• Other CAD or construction estimating/take-off software

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a commercial fencing detailer or steel/CAD draftsman who understands how fencing is actually fabricated and installed—not just someone who can produce architectural drawings.

Experience with Australian commercial construction projects will be highly advantageous.
