Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Commercial Food Service Technician. The technician will diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial kitchen equipment such as ovens, ranges, fryers, steamers, dishwashers, and refrigeration units. Day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and gas issues, performing preventative maintenance, and documenting service calls accurately. The role involves communicating clearly with customers to explain issues, recommend solutions, and ensure equipment meets safety and performance standards. The technician will coordinate scheduling, manage parts and tools, and follow company procedures to deliver timely, high-quality service while working independently in the field.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical skills in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining gas, electrical, and steam commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and equipment schematics.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues in clear, accessible language.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and organized work habits for managing service calls and documentation.
  • Comfort working independently in a remote field role, including time management and self-directed decision making.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for on-site visits to customer locations.
  • Prior experience as a commercial kitchen or food service equipment technician, or related HVAC/R or electrical service background, preferred.
  • Relevant technical certification or vocational training in electrical, mechanical, or refrigeration fields is beneficial.
