Build your future with us Our Commercial Lines department is seeking candidates for an underwriter trainee class beginning January 19th, 2027 . As a Commercial underwriter trainee, you'll participate in a structured training program designed to develop future underwriting professionals. You'll learn how to evaluate risk, build business relationships, make impactful decisions, and contribute to the success of independent insurance agencies and their clients. This position is based at our headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio. Candidates outside the local area must be willing to relocate. The team currently follows a hybrid schedule of four in-office days and one remote day per week. The pay rate for this position is $28.85 hourly . The hourly pay rate will convert to $60,000 annually upon successful completion of training. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance. Be ready to : build a strong foundation in Commercial insurance, underwriting principles, and risk assessment learn Cincinnati's products, coverages, underwriting philosophy, and appetite for risk partner with experienced underwriters and business leaders while developing your underwriting expertise manage a defined portfolio of new and renewal business in collaboration with independent insurance agents analyze business information, identify risk exposures, and make data-driven underwriting recommendations evaluate pricing, coverage terms, and policy conditions to support profitable business decisions develop strong relationships with agency partners through exceptional communication and customer service collaborate with Sales, Claims, and other business areas to support agency and customer needs participate in ongoing training, development opportunities, and special projects that broaden your industry knowledge contribute to team goals while building the skills needed for long-term career success travel to visit agencies to further strengthen relationships and communicate company vision Be equipped with : excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships strong time management and decision-making skills ability to learn and understand new technology ability to analyze risks at individual strategic level work efficiently while following limits of authority and complying with audit criteria ability to seek out creative solutions collaborate with team members and management to identify and solve issues being adaptable to new ideas and processes actively pursues continuing education Bring education and experience from : a bachelor’s degree or have four or more years of insurance-related work experience and have earned an associate in insurance (AINS) designation candidates who graduated within the last five years are required to submit an official or unofficial academic transcript as part of their application Qualified candidates will be hired into the Commercial underwriter trainee program. Assignment to either the Small Business or Middle Market business unit will be finalized and communicated approximately one month prior to the start date . Assignments are determined based on business needs and an assessment of each candidate's qualifications, strengths, and alignment with the respective role.
