Peaks Renewables is a growing renewables platform that develops, acquires, owns, and operates renewable fuels facilities utilizing a range of feedstocks and technologies. Peaks' primary focus is renewable natural gas (RNG), including landfill gas and biogas from processing agricultural waste and food waste using anaerobic digestion and gasification. Peaks’ goal is to reduce emissions while creating economic growth and providing access to clean, safe, dependable, and affordable energy solutions. As a subsidiary of Summit Utilities, Inc., Peaks benefits from a culture of excellence that continues to earn national and regional recognition as an employer of choice. These recognitions include Best Places to Work in Maine (2019–2025); Best Places to Work in Arkansas (2020, 2023, 2025); Best Places to Work in Oklahoma (2022–2025); Best Places to Work in Missouri (2023 and 2026); Best Places to Work in Colorado (2025); Forbes America’s Best Small Employers (2023); and, most recently, Proud and Purposeful Employer (2026).

Being part of the Peaks team means embracing excellence and innovation. We are building a best-in-class platform and are looking for driven, entrepreneurial team members who are energized by the idea of helping scale a growing business.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Operations Associate I (SGL17) with PEAKS Renewables. This hybrid role may be based in Maine or Arkansas, with a remote work option available for candidates located in Texas.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Commercial Operations Associate I is a dynamic, multidisciplinary role with responsibilities spanning the commercial operations of Peaks’ renewable natural gas (“RNG”) project portfolio, organic and inorganic growth initiatives, revenue optimization and compliance, and support for FP&A and M&A functions. The Associate will work with the Sr. Director to complete the buildout of the company’s commercial operations infrastructure and act as the connective tissue between operations, FP&A, M&A, and commercial functions, enabling Peaks to efficiently scale the platform and execute on its growth initiatives while institutionalizing all aspects of the platform.

The Associate will develop and manage financial and operational KPI dashboards, build and maintain financial / operating models, lead monthly operating and financial reviews, support strategy development and execution for new markets and bolt-on opportunities (e.g. CO2 and other co-products), prepare leadership and board materials, as well as support cross-functional initiatives such as the implementation of a new ERP system and the integration of acquired assets into the Peaks portfolio. The Associate will oversee analysts managing revenue compliance for state and federal programs and work with in-house data engineers to automate recurring commercial processes and KPI dashboards, turning ad hoc work into documented, repeatable workflows. The Manager / Associate must be comfortable moving between detailed execution and senior-level communication, and must understand, or be able to quickly learn, the commercial, operational, and policy drivers of the RNG business.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and maintain financial and operating models for portfolio projects, KPI dashboards to track budget, financial, and operational performance and carbon intensity scoring models; work with data engineers to automate repeatable processes
  • Run the monthly operating and financial review cadence: coordinate project-level operating and financial content, prepare and deliver presentations with the team, and utilize outputs to identify and execute on value-added projects in the portfolio
  • Oversee analysts managing environmental credit monetization for the operating portfolio, including credit generation, transacting, and revenue compliance for state and federal programs (RFS, LCFS)
  • Support strategy development for the Peaks platform through market and competitive analyses, business cases, and scenario analyses
  • Support the development and execution of bolt-on projects for the existing portfolio including CO2 liquefaction facilities, fertilizer production facilities, and others
  • Opportunistically support the buildout and institutionalization of a dedicated Peaks commercial function as well as offtake strategy development
  • Support the M&A team with commercial diligence on acquisitions, including offtake contracts, attribute revenue assumptions, program eligibility, and lead the commercial integration of acquired assets into the Peaks’ portfolio
  • Serve as a workstream lead on cross-functional initiatives, including the ERP implementation, representing commercial and operational functions
  • Coordinate and review analyst-level work on shared deliverables and help develop junior team members

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Requires bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field (MBA or CFA a plus)
  • At least four (4) years’ experience in management consulting, investment banking, commercial operations, energy marketing or trading, corporate or project finance, infrastructure, or private equity investing
  • Experience in RNG, renewable fuels, environmental commodities, natural gas, or power markets preferred
  • Demonstrated experience building and owning financial models and analytical deliverables and presenting to leadership and functional teams

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Excited about the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and cross-functional environment with substantial opportunities for growth
  • Advanced financial modeling skills in Excel, including project-level economics, three-statement models, and scenario analyses
  • Strong project management skills: able to run multiple workstreams at once, meet deadlines, and follow through without close supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to distill complex analysis into concise memos and presentations for senior audiences
  • Owner’s mindset: comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities, and motivated to build processes rather than simply execute them
  • Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential commercial, financial, and counterparty information
  • Advanced capabilities in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams (MS Suite)
  • Working knowledge of environmental attribute markets and programs, including the Renewable Fuel Standard, the California Low Carbon Fuel Standard, and federal clean fuel and investment tax credits, or the ability to develop it quickly.
