ABOUT KTF: KTF works alongside communities in Papua New Guinea to improve lives, livelihoods and futures -through vital programs in education, health, equality and leadership. For more than 20 years, we've helped keep the friendship with our nearest neighbours, and the spirit of Kokoda, alive. Our team - 95 percent who are Papua New Guinean - works hand in hand with local communities and partners to understand their needs and strengths, and to deliver programs that build capacity and drive lasting change. Today we work through hubs across the country, delivering programs in six provinces. KTF is a member of the Australian Council for International Development and holds full accreditation with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's ANCP program - high standards that sit at the core of everything we do. We work with a broad range of government, corporate and philanthropic partners to create real, lasting impact. We’ve got a remarkable story to tell….. ABOUT THE ROLE: And great stories don't tell themselves. The Communications & Fundraising Coordinator sits at the heart of how KTF engages our donors, shares our impact and protects our brand. Reporting to the Head of Partnerships & Development and working within our Australian Impact team (Fundraising, Communications and MEL), you'll help drive both the income and the storytelling behind our education, health, equality and leadership programs across Papua New Guinea. This is a broad, hands-on role for someone early in their career and ready to own real work from day one. You'll produce content and run our social media, deliver fundraising appeals and campaigns, coordinate donor recognition and newsletters, support our media activity, and keep our supporter records tidy and our brand consistent - all while learning the full communications and fundraising cycle. Your work will directly support KTF's growth and long-term sustainability. It's a rare chance to build genuine breadth across communications and fundraising, at an organisation doing meaningful work at an exciting time of expansion. You will become part of our story. RESPONSIBILITIES: Working closely with the Head of Partnerships & Development, who leads on fundraising and communications strategy, targeting and brand standards, you'll turn that direction into day-to-day delivery across a broad range of responsibilities: Communications Help build and maintain the KTF communications calendar across campaigns, newsletters, media and donor plans. Capture and produce content across projects, applying a localisation lens. Manage social media, including planning content, posting and tracking engagement. Prepare and distribute media releases and support media liaison. Keep website content fresh, and support production of the Annual Report. Prepare content for key partners to their deadlines. Donor engagement and fundraising Maintain the KTF donor database and support donor retention and reactivation, including day-to-day stewardship of current donors and re-engaging lapsed donors. Deliver targeted fundraising campaigns, covering content, creative, collateral and digital assets. Produce newsletters and donor EDMs, and support donor communications, reports and plans. Support delivery of KTF events, including ticketing, donation platforms and fundraising items. Help prepare content that raises the profile of KTF leadership. Assist with donor grant applications, reporting and website fundraising content. Branding, compliance and governance Apply KTF brand guidelines across public content and collateral, and flag inconsistencies for resolution. Maintain templates, boilerplate copy and shared communications resources for the team. Support compliance with relevant accreditation, fundraising and donor standards. Administer communications quality-assurance processes, including consent and digital asset management. Help develop onboarding materials and support communications induction for staff. ABOUT YOU: Skills and attributes you’ll bring to our team: Essential 2 years' experience in a communications, marketing, fundraising or supporter-facing role (paid or substantial volunteer experience considered). Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate and engaging content for different audiences, adapt one story across multiple formats, and work to a defined tone and style. Confident across digital communications and social media — including content creation, scheduling and performance tracking — with a willingness to pick up new fundraising, events, workflow and asset-management systems quickly. Superb organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain a communications calendar and juggle competing deadlines across multiple projects. A collaborative, adaptable approach suited to a small team, working with program staff, leadership and external partners; flexible to support other KTF teams and occasional out-of-hours work around campaigns and events. Culturally aware and committed to locally led, ethical storytelling. Relevant qualification in communications, marketing, international development or a related field, or equivalent experience. Desirable Experience coordinating appeals, campaigns or events. Familiarity with grant and donor reporting. Experience drafting media releases or liaising with media. Understanding of, or willingness to learn, fundraising and communications compliance in the Australian NGO context (ACFID, FIA, ANCP/DFAT). A genuine interest in international development, humanitarian work and in KTF's mission in Papua New Guinea. Applicants must have the right to work in Australia. This position will require travel both domestically and internationally to PNG from time to time. Closing date: 21 August 2026 or earlier if filled. Applications will be reviewed as they are received. This is a hybrid position and open to applicants from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. For queries only, email [email protected] , with the position title as subject. Please note that applications received via this email will not be considered.
