Position Summary The Communications Specialist develops and executes the communications, outreach, and social-media marketing strategy that raises awareness of the benefits of healthy marriage among TANF agencies, stakeholders, and the families they serve. This role translates complex research and policy into clear, compelling, audience-appropriate messaging across digital and print channels, ensuring content is accurate, respectful, non-stigmatizing, and consistent with applicable branding and communications standards. Key Responsibilities Design and implement a multi-channel communications and social-media marketing plan supporting the marriage-awareness technical assistance effort. Draft, edit, and schedule content for social media, newsletters, web pages, fact sheets, talking points, and press-ready materials. Translate research findings on marriage, family stability, and economic mobility into accessible messaging for diverse audiences, including TANF caseworkers and program participants. Manage editorial calendars, campaign timelines, and content-approval workflows in coordination with the Project Manager and the client. Track and report engagement metrics and campaign performance, using analytics to refine messaging and targeting. Collaborate with the Graphic Illustrator to ensure visual and written content are aligned and on-brand. Ensure all public-facing content meets Section 508 accessibility, plain-language, and federal review requirements. Monitor the family-policy communications landscape and recommend timely, evidence-based outreach opportunities. Required Qualifications Demonstrated experience in strategic communications and social-media marketing, including paid and organic campaign management and analytics. Knowledge of the TANF program and the populations it serves, with sensitivity to messaging for low-income families. Familiarity with the research on the social and economic benefits of marriage, and the ability to communicate it responsibly and without stigma. Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills across digital and print formats. Proficiency with social-media management, email-marketing, and analytics platforms. Understanding of plain-language and Section 508 accessibility standards. Preferred Qualifications Experience communicating on behalf of a government agency or human-services organization. Familiarity with marriage, relationship, or family-strengthening public-awareness campaigns. Basic multimedia skills (short-form video, graphics, or podcasting). Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field. Minimum of five years of communications and social-media marketing experience, ideally including work on health, human-services, or family-focused campaigns.
