Is this job info correct?

A Bit About Us Gamemode One is a self‑funded, values‑driven studio with roots in Minecraft and growing ambitions beyond. We care deeply about our people‑first culture that enables our best work. This role is on our small, talent‑dense indie team. We’re developing an ambitious physics‑based game in Unity; A chaotic sandbox adventure with strong moment-to-moment feel. The Opportunity In our growing organization, you’ll build and execute the pre-launch community strategy for our unannounced title, while helping define the game’s voice, tone, and community-facing brand presence. You’ll create and manage social content that drives awareness, engagement, and Steam wishlists, while building relationships with players, streamers, and influencers ahead of launch. You’ll bring your knowledge of strategic marketing, social media, and content creation. You’ll also learn more about indie game launch marketing, Steam-focused community growth, and the game’s audience. You will work closely with production, design, and QA to turn product context into consistent player communication. You won’t just be working on a great game, but actively shaping game reception and building a healthy player community. What do we mean when we say ‘Mid-level’? This role is listed at an experience level of “Mid-level”. We know that this can mean something different across employers. For us, this means we are looking for someone who already has community, social media, marketing, or communications experience that they can contribute to the role. This may be a mix of personal and professional experience. We are looking for someone who will be confident working on strategy and execution, creating content, engaging with communities, and making clear recommendations in a changing environment. You will have a meaningful impact on how players discover, understand, and connect with the game before and after launch. This is likely not the role for you if you are looking for a heavily directed role, a role focused only on posting content, or your first chance to learn the basics of community and social media work. Within 1 month, you’ll… Build relationships with project leads and the development team, and develop a deep understanding of the game. Get familiar with Gamemode One’s tools, workflows, and communication norms. Understand Gamemode One’s long-term goals and how community growth supports our first independent launch. Research the target audience, game genre, and competitors to identify useful learnings for the launch. Draft early recommendations for the game’s voice, tone, and priority community channels. Within 3 months, you’ll… Define the voice, tone, and community direction for the game. Launch and manage the game’s social channels, including moderation and engagement. Create and execute an announcement plan that outlines priority channels and beat hierarchy, setting the stage for building pre-launch awareness over time. Develop and begin to execute a Steam wishlist strategy, setting wishlists-over-time targets with production. Create social content using in-game material and collaborate with art on marketing assets as needed to support audience growth and wishlist generation. Within 6 months, you’ll… Maintain consistent communication with production and design to keep community strategy scoped, informed, and aligned with project goals. Have built meaningful momentum toward Steam Next Fest, supporting a strong festival presence through consistent content, community engagement, influencer outreach, and player communication. Execute the launch and communications strategy for the game with increasing independence. Sustain community momentum after the demo through ongoing engagement, updates, and player communication. Within 12 months, you’ll… Own player-facing communications such as patch notes, sentiment updates, and community responses. Work with the development and QA teams to bring player feedback into fixes, feature planning, and post-launch improvements. Support early community and market research to support future in-development products Why our job descriptions look like this Our job descriptions look different than the average, and that’s on purpose! We find the normal approach to be far too prescriptive. Defining explicit qualifications and requirements would be us defining how you should have acquired a certain skillset. What these generally achieve is intimidating those who don’t fit the mold to not apply. That’s not our style. In an effort to be inclusive, and clear, we take a more descriptive approach. Read through the opportunity, and the description of the work you’ll be doing. Decide for yourself if the work excites you, and is something that you are able to rise to the challenge of. Benefits Unlimited paid time off, with a 2-week minimum Flexible hybrid schedule, with a focus on in-office Health Spending Account of $3000/year Charitable matching of $2000/year Investment in professional development Access to the benefits above without a probationary period
