Overview of the role

The Compliance Associate will support the Client Risk Oversight team in carrying out day-to-day Second Line of Defence compliance activity across IFX's client onboarding, ongoing monitoring, and financial crime control framework.

The role is focused on assisting with routine KYC/CDD checks, first-line quality assurance support, screening reviews, and the accurate recording and documentation of compliance activity. The Associate will help ensure that First Line of Defence work is captured, checked, and escalated in line with IFX's policies and procedures, working closely with and under the guidance of the Compliance Specialist and other senior members of the Client Risk Oversight team.

This position is designed as an entry point into financial crime compliance. It suits an individual who is either early in their compliance career or moving into compliance from a related operational or financial services role, and who is looking to build foundational AML/KYC knowledge and practical review experience within a 2LoD environment. The role does not carry independent case ownership, escalation authority, or exposure to high-risk client decision-making — these remain with the Compliance Specialist and senior CRO colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting KYC/CDD Checks
  • Support the Compliance Specialist and CRO team by carrying out first-pass reviews of standard-risk KYC/CDD onboarding and periodic review files.
  • Check that client documentation is complete, in date, and consistent with IFX's standard onboarding requirement.
  • Flag missing information, inconsistencies, or anything outside standard parameters to the Compliance Specialist for further assessment.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of files reviewed and outcomes.
Quality Assurance Support
  • Assist with QA checks on straightforward, standard-risk 1LoD onboarding and periodic review files.
  • Carry out basic completeness and consistency checks, including documentation checks and simple risk-classification comparisons.
  • Record QA outcomes clearly using agreed templates, for review and sign-off by the Compliance Specialist.
  • Help track agreed follow-up actions and remediation items to their assigned owners and deadlines.
Screening Support
  • Carry out first-level review of routine sanctions, PEP, and adverse media screening alerts on standard-risk clients.
  • Clear straightforward, low-risk ("true negative") matches in line with agreed procedures.
  • Escalate any unclear, potential, or higher-risk matches to the Compliance Specialist for assessment and decision.
  • Keep an accurate log of alerts reviewed and their outcomes.
Periodic Reviews – Intermediary (Fintech) Client Base
  • Support the Compliance Specialist in undertaking periodic (ongoing) reviews of IFX's intermediary and fintech client base, in line with agreed review cycles.
  • Check that client information, ownership/control details, and supporting documentation remain complete, current, and consistent with IFX's due diligence standards.
  • Confirm that expected activity and use of IFX's services remain broadly consistent with the client's existing risk profile, escalating any material changes to the Compliance Specialist.
  • Record periodic review outcomes clearly using agreed templates, flagging any changes in risk profile, ownership, or activity for further assessment.
  • Support tracking of periodic review completion against agreed timelines and highlight any files at risk of falling overdue.
Issue Identification & Escalation
  • Identify and note straightforward gaps, missing evidence, or procedural inconsistencies arising from file checks and QA activity.
  • Escalate anything unclear, judgement-based, or potentially higher risk to the Compliance Specialist rather than resolving independently.
  • Support the tracking of open issues and actions through to closure under supervision.
Reporting & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate and well-organised records of reviews, QA checks, screening outcomes, and related compliance activity.
  • Support the Compliance Specialist in preparing routine compliance activity logs and management information inputs.
  • Ensure documentation is filed and evidenced in accordance with IFX's record-keeping standards.
Stakeholder Support
  • Respond to routine, non-complex queries from First Line teams regarding standard KYC/onboarding requirements, referring anything complex or judgement-based to the Compliance Specialist.
  • Build effective day-to-day working relationships with First Line teams while maintaining appropriate independence.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, escalating promptly where a query falls outside the Associate's scope.
