Role Description

This is a part time, remote role for a Compliance Engineer at Sereel, combining regulatory judgment with hands-on engineering. The Compliance Engineer will be responsible for assessing product features and platform functionality to ensure adherence to relevant regulatory frameworks and internal compliance standards, while also building the on-chain and off-chain systems that automate compliance rather than manage it manually. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing product requirements, conducting compliance risk analyses, designing and maintaining identity and transfer-restriction logic, collaborating with product and engineering teams on design decisions, and documenting compliance controls. The role also involves monitoring regulatory developments in DeFi and financial services, supporting internal audits, and contributing to policies and procedures that promote product safety and user protection.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with ERC-3643 OnchainID and the CMTAT identity and transfer-restriction standard
• 3+ years of programming experience, ideally in Solidity and TypeScript
• Strong experience in Product Compliance and Product Safety, with the ability to translate regulatory expectations into technical and product requirements
• Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance in financial services or DeFi, including familiarity with relevant laws, standards, and industry best practices
• Excellent analytical skills to evaluate risks, interpret complex regulations, and perform structured compliance assessments
• Clear and professional communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and preparing concise compliance documentation
• Bachelor's degree in law, finance, engineering, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience working with or around blockchain, fintech, or digital asset platforms is highly beneficial
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to ethical standards, security, and customer protection
