Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive Bookkeeper to join our Brussels office. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day financial record-keeping and support operations within our fast-paced, multilingual Public Affairs environment. The ideal candidate is well-organized, self-motivated, and comfortable managing key priorities to meet regular deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record day-to-day financial transactions and ensure accurate posting to the general ledger.
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and supplier accounts.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist in preparing monthly reports.
- Ensure compliance with Belgian VAT, tax, and financial regulations.
Key Requirements
- Languages: Excellent spoken and written English. Working knowledge of French or Dutch is an asset.
- Work Style: Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and consistently hit deadlines.
- Mindset: Proactive, solutions-oriented approach with a practical work ethic.
- Quality & Integrity: High attention to detail, accuracy in financial reporting, and a high standard of confidentiality.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets (including formulas and pivot tables). Familiarity with NetSuite is a plus.
- Teamwork: Solid interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach.
- Local Knowledge: Practical understanding of Belgian financial and tax regulations is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
- Bookkeeping or accountancy certification (e.g., IAB/BIBF, AAT).
Work Environment:
- Based in Brussels, with flexibility for hybrid working (partial remote work possible).
