Computer Scientist at BairesDev

In this role, you'll tackle some of the hardest algorithmic problems in computer science, working on inference, ranking, matching, classification, and optimization over datasets containing hundreds of millions of entities and billions of relationships. This is not a backend, infrastructure, or data engineering role — the primary responsibility is formulating complex computational problems and designing scalable algorithmic solutions that can be validated and deployed in production. This is your opportunity to work on problems where no standard solution exists, combining algorithmic creativity with sound engineering judgment to turn ambiguous ideas into reliable, maintainable systems at massive scale.

What You'll Do:

- Design and implement algorithms for inference, ranking, matching, classification, and prediction problems.

- Create scalable heuristics operating on datasets with hundreds of millions of records.

- Analyze computational complexity and optimize systems for large-scale execution.

- Design evaluation methodologies and validation frameworks to measure solution quality.

- Transform ambiguous business requirements into well-defined computational problems.

- Collaborate with researchers and engineers to productionize algorithms and experiments.

What we are looking for:

- Degree in Computer Science or close to completion.

- Strong algorithms and data structures fundamentals.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and sound engineering judgment.

- Strong programming skills, with Python preferred; candidates with backgrounds in other general-purpose languages are encouraged to apply.

- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain production-quality software.

- Ability to reason about scalability, computational complexity, and performance tradeoffs.

- Comfort working on ambiguous, open-ended problems and progressively transforming them into well-defined computational solutions.

- Advanced proficiency in English.

Nice to have:

- Experience with graph algorithms and network analysis.

- Background in information retrieval.

- Knowledge of optimization techniques.

- Applied machine learning experience.

- Familiarity with probabilistic inference.

- Experience with large-scale data mining.
