About Cognizant Consulting

Cognizant Consulting is more than Cognizant’s consulting practice. We’re a global community of 5,000+ experts dedicated to helping clients reimagine their business. Blending our deep industry and technology advisory capability, we create innovative business solutions for Fortune 500 clients. And now, we’re looking for our next colleague who’ll join us in shaping the future of business. Could it be you?

About the role

As an MRO Subject Matter Expert, you will make an impact by connecting airline maintenance, repair and overhaul operations with a complex enterprise technology assessment. You will serve as the primary domain advisor for a major North American airline, ensuring recommendations reflect real-world Technical Operations processes, regulatory obligations, and business-continuity needs. You will work collaboratively with client stakeholders and Cognizant’s consulting and technical teams.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead functional discovery workshops spanning maintenance execution, materials management, maintenance planning and optimization, and procurement.
  • Map current-state processes across SCEPTRE modules, identifying operational pain points, manual workarounds, shadow technology, and critical dependencies.
  • Assess operational impact, replacement risk and business-continuity requirements, and contribute functional insights to the SCEPTRE Dependency Index.
  • Evaluate practical artificial intelligence and machine learning opportunities in Technical Operations, including aircraft-on-ground prediction, demand forecasting, predictive maintenance scheduling, and automated task-card generation.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the client’s Technical Operations stakeholders and Cognizant’s technical team, reviewing solution blueprints and decoupling recommendations from an MRO operations perspective.

Work model

We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position based in Dallas, Texas, requiring weekly travel for the first three months. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance through our various wellbeing programs.

The working arrangements for this role are accurate as of the date of posting. This may change based on the project you’re engaged in, as well as business and client requirements. Rest assured, we will always be clear about role expectations.

What you must have to be considered

  • 6+ years of experience in airline Technical Operations or MRO operations as a senior business analyst, product owner or functional consultant, including requirements elicitation and business-process mapping in complex airline environments.
  • Deep, hands-on knowledge of maintenance execution and airworthiness compliance, including work packages, task cards, job-card workflows, airworthiness directives and service bulletins, minimum equipment lists, life-limited-part proration and deferral management.
  • Strong knowledge of MRO materials, procurement and planning processes, including inventory, rotables, spares, kitting, purchase orders, vendor management, aircraft-on-ground expediting, SPEC2000, forecasting, scheduling and turnaround-time management.
  • Experience with at least one commercial MRO platform, such as TRAX, AIMS, Ramco Aviation, AMASIS, AMOS or an equivalent platform, plus familiarity with integrations to ERP/SAP, flight operations and finance systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in aeronautical or aerospace engineering, aviation management, or a related technical field, with the ability to serve as a single point of contact across Maintenance Control, Engineering, Planning, Stores, and Quality or Compliance functions.

will help you succeed

  • Experience working in a SCEPTRE environment or with IBM mainframe-based MRO solutions.
  • Experience with Technical Operations automation, robotic process automation or digital transformation programs.
  • A SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, Certified Scrum Product Owner, ITIL or comparable Agile certification.
  • An MBA or other relevant postgraduate qualification.
  • Familiarity with aviation-specific standards or qualifications, including continuing airworthiness management or Part 145 environments.

We're excited to meet people who share our mission and can make an impact in a variety of ways. Don't hesitate to apply, even if you only meet the minimum requirements listed. Think about your transferable experiences and unique skills that make you stand out as someone who can bring new and exciting things to this role.
