WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Consumer Originations Risk Strategy Manager leads the development and implementation of credit risk strategies for new markets and oversees origination risk controls to support sound, consistent decision-making. This role evaluates credit decisioning rules, policies, models, and portfolio performance, forecasts key risk metrics, and develops post-launch monitoring and management reporting to identify emerging trends and exposures. This role also serves as a steward of consumer origination risk data by partnering with the Data Office to maintain reliable data, governance standards, and automated quality controls, while collaborating with Credit, Sales, Finance, Operations, regional stakeholders, and management to deliver actionable analyses and recommendations that balance risk objectives with business priorities.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • New Market Risk Strategy and Implementation

    • Define and coordinate Risk requirements necessary to launch HCA products in new markets.

    • Evaluate credit decisioning rules to confirm alignment with approved risk strategies, policies, and market requirements.

    • Develop, recommend, and document credit risk policies for new markets.

    • Review MEL and portfolio lifetime-loss models and provide monthly comparisons against internal Risk model results.

    • Forecast key risk metrics to support annual business planning and performance expectations

    • Support validation of application data transmitted from RouteOne to the loan origination system.

    • Develop post-launch reporting to monitor origination mix, portfolio performance, and emerging risk trend

    • Benchmark global risk frameworks and identify practices applicable to new market operations.

  • Risk Control Management

    • Monitor the effectiveness of judgmental decisioning edits, including policy limits and fraud-related rules.

    • Evaluate and refine the decisioning waterfall to identify inefficiencies and improve decision quality.

    • Track and analyze approvals and manual decisions to identify trends

    • Partner with Credit and Sales stakeholders to align policies, procedures, and risk strategies with business objectives.

  • Origination Risk Data Stewardship

    • Maintain consumer origination risk data tables to support accurate and reliable reporting and analysis.

    • Partner with the Data Office to maintain data tables, definitions, lineage, and supporting data dictionaries.

    • Represent Consumer Risk in EDGE committee meetings and promote consistent enterprise data definitions and governance standards.

    • Develop automated data-quality controls to identify and resolve inconsistencies within origination risk tables.

  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis

    • Perform detailed variance analyses of monthly and plan vs actual product and program risk performance.

    • Deliver timely ad hoc analyses and actionable insights in support of business decisions and management requests

    • Prepare and present risk findings, performance insights, and recommendations to management to support informed decision-making and strategic risk oversight.

Qualifications

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in risk management, credit risk, portfolio analytics, or a related area within consumer financial services.

  • Automotive finance industry experience preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate origination performance, identify trends, and assess risk exposure.

  • Working knowledge of credit risk, lending economics, profitability drivers, and loss mitigation strategies within consumer financial services.

  • Familiarity with financial services regulations, oversight expectations, and risk management governance practices.

  • Proficiency using SAS, SQL, Excel, or similar tools to extract, analyze, and interpret data.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare management reporting and present recommendations.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams with attention to detail, deadlines, and business priorities.

  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across Risk, Finance, Sales, Operations, Remarketing, and regional stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and constructively challenge existing practices when appropriate.
