Consumer Service Specialist
Do you have experience in the health insurance industry such as advocating for consumers, claims administration, consumer services, or compliance? Do you have knowledge of insurance laws and regulations? Are you able to communicate effectively in written and verbal form? Are you bilingual and do you speak Spanish? If you answered yes to these questions join our team as a Consumer Service Insurance Specialist in our Health & Life Division at the Utah Insurance Department!
The Consumer Service Insurance Specialist will primarily be tasked with answering questions from consumers, and reviewing independent review request and insurance complaints. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are detail oriented and have a comprehensive knowledge of health insurance. Most of the independent review request and consumer complaint review work is done independently with ample opportunities for collaboration with a larger team to discuss issues or policy questions as they arise. Organizational skills as well as the ability to clearly communicate compliance issues with companies are integral to the position.

Salary – $20.87 - $25.00 Hourly Wage

Key Responsibilities
As a Consumer Service Insurance Specialist, you will:
- Be professional and provide exceptional customer service at all times
- Advocate for health insurance consumers to ensure insurance benefits are compliant and provide required consumer protections.
- Review and analyze independent reviews to ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
- Effectively communicate with insurers regarding complaint findings.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
The best qualified candidate for this position will have:
- 3 or more years of experience in the health insurance industry including experience in:
- Claims administration
- Consumer services
- Conflict resolution or
- Consumer advocacy
- Experience in insurance products, consumer services, and conflict resolution.
- Knowledge of health insurance laws.
- Strong, well-rounded computer and writing skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to read, understand, apply, and explain federal and state laws.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in health insurance products, claims administration, consumer services, and conflict resolution.
- Individuals with experience in advocating for consumers are preferred.
- Knowledge of health insurance laws.
- Strong, well-rounded computer and writing skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
