The McGraw Hill Higher Education team thrives on building meaningful relationships with educators to maximize the potential of every learner. This is a unique opportunity to have a far-reaching impact on student success as well as impact the educational technology industry How can you make an impact? McGraw Hill, the leading provider of digital and print educational resources, is looking for a Content Data Analyst & Researcher for our Higher Education team. This individual serves as the data and research engine of the Content Courseware and Curriculum Teams, providing the analytical rigor, market intelligence, and curriculum insight necessary to drive evidence-based content decisions. This role partners closely with the Curriculum Strategy Manager and Content Courseware Team to close the feedback loop between content performance, learner outcomes, and market needs. As the organization builds out its AI authoring ecosystem, this role will play a central part in establishing data pipelines, performance dashboards, research frameworks, and competitive intelligence systems that enable agile, data-driven content optimization. This is not a conventional research role — you will work in a highly agile environment where priorities shift, systems are actively evolving, and speed matters. This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States. What you will be doing: Conduct structured curriculum, market, and competitive research across relevant disciplines, analyzing course structures, learning objectives, topic coverage, industry trends, competitor offerings, pricing, formats, go-to-market strategies, product-market fit indicators, and emerging developments in education, academia, professional fields, and educational technology to identify opportunities, gaps, and future curriculum needs. Build, maintain, and continuously improve organized research repositories, knowledge bases, content management systems, documentation standards, tagging taxonomies, competitive matrices, trend logs, watchlists, and tracking tools that support scalable operations, AI content ecosystems, prompt development, content accuracy verification, benchmarking, governance standards, and accessible knowledge sharing. Synthesize and integrate secondary research, primary research, customer feedback, sales data, platform analytics, instructor input, and market intelligence into actionable insights, curriculum recommendations, product proposals, curricular spines, topic hierarchies, investment cases, ROI analyses, and data-driven recommendations that inform portfolio strategy, content planning, and new product development. Design, maintain, and analyze data collection frameworks, dashboards, QA metrics, content performance indicators, learner engagement trends, quality measures, production velocity data, and dynamic content delivery signals to identify improvement opportunities, measure production impact, support evergreen content updates, and enable AI-driven optimization. Plan, facilitate, and analyze customer research initiatives—including focus groups, user research sessions, discussion guides, surveys, research instruments, synthesis frameworks, and ongoing feedback repositories—while building relationships with educators, learners, partner institutions, and stakeholders to capture longitudinal insights and ensure product decisions reflect real user needs. Collaborate closely with the Curriculum Strategy Manager, Content QA Specialist, Pod leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders within an agile environment to communicate research progress and findings, adapt priorities and methodologies, improve workflows and processes, leverage AI tools and emerging research techniques, maintain expertise in analytics and automation technologies, and demonstrate a continuous improvement and fail-fast learning mindset. We are looking for someone with: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Data Science, Research Methods, Education, Business Analytics, Information Science, Communications, or a related field, with a preferred advanced degree in a relevant discipline. 3+ years of experience in data analysis, market research, content/learning analytics, and conducting qualitative and quantitative research, including synthesizing findings and communicating actionable insights. Strong analytical and technical skills, including proficiency with data visualization and analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), experience with secondary market research, competitive analysis, industry trend tracking, and the ability to contribute to investment case development and ROI analysis. Demonstrated experience maintaining documentation systems, databases, content repositories, CMS/DAM platforms, content tagging systems, taxonomies, content metadata, learning object analytics, and familiarity with AI-driven content ecosystems. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex data to non-technical audiences, facilitate focus groups, user interviews, and other qualitative research activities, and effectively manage stakeholder engagement. Experience or familiarity with higher education, EdTech, educational publishing, curriculum development, agile or iterative project environments, and a strong ability to manage multiple workstreams in ambiguous, fast-paced settings while leveraging AI tools to enhance research and analysis workflows. Why work for us? At McGraw-Hill, we leverage cutting-edge technology to create innovative learning solutions that support learners at all stages of their educational journey. Our state-of-the-art digital tools and platforms provide personalized, interactive experiences that enhance understanding and retention. Being part of McGraw-Hill means joining a team dedicated to shaping the future of education and making a real impact on students' lives. It's an exciting opportunity to contribute to a company that values innovation, collaboration, and excellence. The pay range for this position is between $71,300 - $92,000 annually.
