Content Strategist

Remote | Full-Time | Eastern Time (ET)

Fence & Deck Marketers is looking for an experienced AI Content Strategist to help shape, improve, and scale our content strategy.

This is not a traditional content-writing role. We are looking for someone who can combine SEO, keyword research, content planning, AI agents, and performance analysis to create content that supports rankings, leads, and business growth.

You will work closely with our SEO, Web Development, and AI team to turn keyword data, SEO insights, and business goals into clear content strategies.

You should understand how AI agents and AI content pods can support research, planning, writing, editing, optimization, and quality assurance.

Content Strategy

You will develop content plans for websites, service pages, location pages, landing pages, and blogs.

You will identify content gaps, recommend new opportunities, and help improve existing content based on search intent, competition, and performance.

Keyword Research

You will conduct keyword and competitor research using leading SEO tools.

You should be able to evaluate search intent, relevance, ranking difficulty, local opportunities, and conversion potential, then map keywords to the correct pages.

Writing for Local Businesses

You must have proven experience writing content for local and service-area businesses such as home services and contractors. This means understanding how local customers search, what they need to see before they call, and how to write in a voice that fits a local business rather than a national brand. You will not be doing this alone. The SEO Manager will provide guidance, client context, and market direction, but you should already have hands-on experience in this area.

SEO Report Analysis

You will review SEO reports and use rankings, impressions, clicks, traffic, and conversions to identify content opportunities.

You will turn performance data into clear recommendations for new content, content updates, and ongoing optimization.

AI Pods and AI Agents

You will help design and improve AI-powered content workflows.

This includes defining how agents support research, planning, writing, editing, SEO, fact-checking, and quality review, while ensuring human oversight remains part of the process.

Content Planning and Quality

You will create clear content briefs and review content for accuracy, readability, structure, tone, search intent, and local relevance.

Required Experience

The ideal candidate has at least six years of experience in content strategy, SEO content, or a related field.

You should have strong experience with keyword research, search intent, competitor analysis, content planning, SEO reporting, and content performance.

Excellent written and spoken English is required, along with practical experience using AI tools for content research, planning, writing, editing, or quality assurance.

Experience with tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Ahrefs, Semrush, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Screaming Frog, n8n, Make, Zapier, and similar platforms is preferred.

Experience with AI agents, prompt systems, structured outputs, knowledge bases, and human-in-the-loop workflows will be considered an advantage.

You think strategically, enjoy working with SEO data, and can turn research into practical content recommendations.

You understand how to use AI effectively without compromising quality, accuracy, originality, or brand voice.

You are comfortable collaborating across teams and take ownership of results.

This is a full-time remote position.

The selected candidate must be available to work Monday through Friday during Eastern Time business hours.

Please note that Eastern Time alternates between EST and EDT depending on daylight saving time.
