Siemens Capital Plugin Development — Contract, Remote

Amoeba Software is seeking a Contract Java Developer to develop plugins and integrations for Siemens Capital and related engineering software workflows. The role is primarily focused on Java development, with Python experience preferred to support backend services and internal projects as capacity allows.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based plugins for Siemens Capital.
• Automate engineering workflows involving data extraction, validation, transformation, reporting, and design-rule checking.
• Develop Capital extensions such as custom actions, DRC extensions, reports, bridge processors, and other integrations.
• Integrate plugins with LLM-based services, Siemens Capital web services, APIs, and external systems.
• Translate requirements into clean, modular, maintainable, production-ready code.
• Manage assigned work through development, testing, debugging, documentation, and delivery.
• Perform integration testing within Siemens Capital to ensure stability and performance.
• Communicate progress, risks, technical issues, and completion status clearly.
• Collaborate directly with Amoeba leadership in a fast-moving product environment.

Python / Backend Responsibilities

As project capacity permits:

• Develop and maintain Python backend services and REST APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI.
• Build microservices, data-processing workflows, and integrations deployed in AWS environments.
• Develop solutions utilizing third-party or internally developed AI models.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases and structured engineering data.
• Integrate backend systems with cloud services, external APIs, and data providers.
• Implement authentication, authorization, testing, monitoring, performance optimization, and security best practices.
• Contribute to system architecture and automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Perform limited frontend development when necessary to support backend functionality.

Required Qualifications

• Professional Java development experience.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design and modular software development.
• Experience with desktop Java environments such as Swing or similar frameworks.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to technical detail.
• Ability to work independently in a remote contractor environment with minimal supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Python backend development experience, particularly with FastAPI.
• Experience developing plugins, extensions, or integrations for engineering software.
• Experience with wiring-system design concepts and engineering data structures.
• Experience with electrical CAD/ECAD software, Siemens Capital, PLM systems, or similar digital engineering environments.
• Experience working with XML, JSON, APIs, databases, and other structured technical data.
• Experience supporting automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, or similar engineering organizations.
• Familiarity with Agile software development practices.

Engagement Details

• Independent contractor role.
• Variable workload based on project needs, typically 10–25 hours per week.
• Fully remote.
• Flexible schedule focused on deliverables and successful execution of assigned work.
• U.S.-based candidates preferred due to export-control considerations; nearshore candidates may also be considered.
