Job Description

We are committed to building an inclusive workplace and encourage applications from all qualified candidates.

Comgent is seeking a senior infrastructure architect to lead estate rationalisation across end-user computing, data centres and public cloud for a confidential regulated enterprise. The preferred engagement route is contract-to-permanent, subject to agreement.

Assignment outcomes

  • Publish a target-state infrastructure architecture and workload placement policy for design-authority endorsement.
  • Deliver a sequenced data-centre exit plan with workload discovery, dependency mapping, migration waves and contract alignment.
  • Define an enterprise VDI/EUC consolidation roadmap and deliver an initial platform migration wave.
  • Establish the infrastructure cost baseline and deliver measurable estate and cost reductions.

Responsibilities

  • Set standards for virtualisation, compute, storage, backup, archive, patching and infrastructure as code.
  • Design cloud landing zones, identity integration, networking and hybrid connectivity.
  • Own resilience architecture, disaster-recovery tiering, recovery objectives, failover design and testing.
  • Develop unit economics, capacity forecasts and consumption visibility for service owners.
  • Coordinate network, security, EUC and platform engineering dependencies and assure infrastructure change at design authority.

Working approach

Credibility with engineers and senior stakeholders, constructive challenge, practical risk judgement and accountability for measurable transformation outcomes.

Requirements

Requirements

  • Substantial infrastructure architecture experience in a regulated enterprise.
  • At least one delivered end-to-end data-centre consolidation, migration or exit.
  • Enterprise VDI or EUC estate ownership, including a platform migration or consolidation.
  • Hands-on architecture across at least one major public cloud, including landing zones, networking, identity and migration patterns.
  • Workload discovery and dependency analysis across legacy and undocumented systems.
  • Evidence of achieved infrastructure cost reductions.

Technical scope

VDI/EUC platforms such as Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktop, VMware Horizon and Windows 365; image/profile management, application layering and session sizing; data-centre virtualisation, SAN/NAS and converged infrastructure; Azure/AWS landing zones, ExpressRoute/Direct Connect and migration patterns; network fabrics, segmentation, load balancing, WAN/SD-WAN, DNS and firewalls; Terraform, Ansible, infrastructure as code and pipelines; disaster recovery, backup, multi-site and multi-region resilience.

Desirable experience

Financial-services infrastructure, low-latency or market-data environments; mainframe or legacy mid-range consolidation; FinOps and cloud cost governance.
