Job Requirements The Controller is responsible for overseeing the organization's accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting support, and compliance activities. This role ensures the integrity of financial information, maintains accounting policies and procedures, manages the monthly close process, and provides financial insights that support strategic business decisions. The Controller partners closely with senior leadership to drive financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and organizational growth. Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and cash management. Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. Prepare and review accurate and timely financial statements and management reports. Analyze financial results and provide insights, recommendations, and variance explanations to leadership. Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable regulations. Internal Controls & Compliance Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal controls and accounting policies. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements. Coordinate annual financial audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors. Monitor regulatory changes and assess organizational impact. Support risk management initiatives and financial governance efforts. Budgeting & Forecasting Assist in the development and management of annual budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor organizational performance against budget and identify areas for improvement. Provide financial modeling and strategic analysis to support business initiatives and investment decisions. Partner with department leaders to improve financial understanding and accountability. Cash Flow & Treasury Management Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital requirements. Manage banking relationships and treasury activities. Develop cash forecasting models and recommend strategies to optimize cash utilization. Ensure adequate financial resources are available to support operational and strategic objectives. Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance team members. Establish performance expectations and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Evaluate processes and implement enhancements that improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Promote collaboration across departments to achieve organizational goals. Work Experience Must-haves: · Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. · Minimum 5 years of experience progressive accounting and financial management experience. · Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. · Experience managing audits, budgeting, and financial analysis. · Advanced proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel. · Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. · Strong verbal and written communication skills. Nice-to-haves: · Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. · Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Work Conditions: · Work to be performed remote (initially). · Once facilities are available, work will be conducted in the Lake Charles, LA area. · Ability to travel in-country (occasionally) Aclara Technologies Inc. is the United States subsidiary of Aclara Resources Inc, a rare earth elements company focused on the sustainable development of ionic clay deposits in Latin America.
