Controller (QuickBooks Expert)

Job Title: Controller Location: Remote – Latin America (Strong overlap with U.S. Eastern business hours required) Type of Contract: Full-Time | Remote Salary Range: Up to $4,000 USD/month (commensurate with experience) Language Requirements: Professional English (written and spoken) Our client is seeking a skilled Controller with strong experience managing month-end close, accounts payable, and e-commerce accounting operations to join their growing team. You will play a key role in owning the full accounting cycle, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting while maintaining a reliable accounts payable process. Your work will directly impact leadership's ability to make informed financial decisions based on accurate, trusted financial statements. Key Responsibilities Own the complete month-end close process, delivering accurate financial statements within 10–12 business days. Manage bank, credit card, marketplace, and payment processor reconciliations using QuickBooks Online, ensuring proper account classification and accuracy. Maintain recurring journal entries, accruals, depreciation schedules, deferred revenue, customer deposits, clearing accounts, and other balance sheet reconciliations. Own the accounts payable process from vendor onboarding through invoice processing, PO matching, statement reconciliations, and ACH/wire payment execution. Prepare and distribute monthly financial reporting packages, including the P&L, Balance Sheet, Trial Balance, Cash Flow Statement, General Ledger, and key performance metrics. Coordinate payroll reconciliations, sales tax reconciliations, annual 1099 preparation, and support year-end reporting alongside external CPA partners. Collaborate with finance leadership by providing accurate accounting data, maintaining accounting controls, and continuously improving accounting processes. Must-Have Qualifications 3+ years of progressive accounting experience with direct ownership of month-end close and accounts payable, preferably as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Senior Accountant, or Accounting Manager. Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online , including reconciliations, journal entries, adjustments, and financial close activities. Hands-on experience managing multiple bank accounts, credit cards, accruals, prepaid expenses, and balance sheet reconciliations. Strong accounts payable expertise, including vendor onboarding, purchase order matching, statement reconciliations, and executing ACH and wire payments. Experience working with financial data generated from reporting systems or data warehouses to support accounting operations. Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to independently manage sensitive financial information. Professional English communication skills with reliable availability during U.S. Eastern business hours. Preferred Qualifications Experience in e-commerce or multi-channel retail accounting , including Amazon settlements, payment processors, deferred revenue, and marketplace clearing accounts. Familiarity with tools such as BigQuery, Synder, Fathom, Duoplane, Deel, TaxJar, Resolve, Stripe, PayPal, and Mercury . Experience transitioning accounting operations from outsourced bookkeeping or fractional CFO services to an internal finance function. Comfortable leveraging automation and AI tools to improve accounting workflows and operational efficiency. Experience supporting fast-growing businesses with high transaction volumes and modern cloud-based accounting systems.
