Controlling Manager – MedTech Brazil
Scope:
Johnson & Johnson MedTech Brazil
The Controlling Manager is responsible for the integrity of the accounting close and the financial control environment of Johnson & Johnson MedTech Brazil. The role leads the monthly and quarterly closing cycles, owns Financial Compliance, and coordinates support to internal and external audits, including Health Care Compliance reviews. The manager partners with functional and business areas on the execution and sustainability of SOX controls and supports financial planning routines, leading a team of analysts to deliver accurate, timely and compliant results. The role is also expected to leverage technology and artificial intelligence to automate routine tasks, strengthen controls and generate faster, data-driven insights for the business.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accounting close: lead monthly and quarterly closing activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness of results under local and corporate accounting standards.
- Financial compliance: own the financial compliance agenda for the affiliate, ensuring adherence to corporate policies, statutory requirements and applicable regulations.
- Audit support: coordinate and support internal and external audits, including Health Care Compliance reviews — preparing documentation, organizing walkthroughs and following up on remediation actions.
- SOX controls: execute owned controls and support functional and business areas in the design, testing and sustainability of their controls; maintain risk and control matrices.
- Financial planning: support planning cycles by providing accounting and control expertise to forecasting, budgeting and business review routines.
- Risk and continuous improvement: proactively identify process risks and drive corrective and improvement actions in partnership with Finance, business and other functions.
- Technology and artificial intelligence: apply digital tools, analytics and artificial intelligence solutions to automate manual routines, improve the quality of closing and controls, and turn financial data into actionable insights, always in line with corporate data privacy and responsible use guidelines.
- People leadership: lead, develop and coach a team of analysts, fostering accountability, technical growth, digital fluency and a strong compliance mindset.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; advanced certifications (CRC, post-graduate studies or MBA) considered a plus.
- At least seven years of experience in Controllership, Accounting or Audit, including people leadership responsibilities.
- Proven track record in accounting close, internal controls and audit support within a multinational environment, with proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP and exposure to digital finance tools such as Power BI, automation platforms or artificial intelligence applications.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES AND AFFILIATIONS
- Technical accounting knowledge: solid command of BRGAAP, USGAAP and IFRS applied to close, reporting and technical judgment.
- Communication and influence without authority: ability to engage Finance, business and functional stakeholders and drive alignment across teams.
- English proficiency: fluent written and spoken English for interaction with regional and global teams and auditors.
- Leadership: proven ability to develop teams and sustain a culture of integrity, accountability and quality.
- Digital and AI fluency: comfort with ERP, analytics and artificial intelligence tools, with an open mindset to adopt new technologies and drive automation in controllership routines. Demonstrated understanding of AI concepts and frameworks, including awareness of responsible and ethical AI practices, and experience generating effective prompts to boost efficiency and productivity.
- Analytical thinking and attention to detail, with the ability to balance control rigor and business support.
LOCATION & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
São Paulo, Brazil, following the 3x2 office schedule. Travel not required.
