Description Job Title: Community Nutrition Program Manager, Cooking Matters and SNAP Outreach Grade Level & Anticipated Hiring Range: 08 | $58,000 - $66,800 The salary range for Grade 08 is $58,000 - $75,600. Consistent with GSFB's Salary Administration Policy, most new employees are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the grade range. Starting salaries above the midpoint may be considered in limited circumstances based on directly relevant qualifications and experience. Designation: Exempt Location: Hybrid: Combination of remote, office-based, and community-based work. Regular statewide travel to support program sites, volunteers, and partners. Schedule: Regular business hours Monday-Friday; Occasional evening or weekend hours to support classes, trainings, outreach events, or partner activities. As our Community Nutrition Program Manager, you'll lead Cooking Matters, one of our signature nutrition education programs that helps Maine children, adults, and families build skills for shopping, cooking, and eating well on a budget. Through hands-on classes and community partnerships, you'll help make healthy eating more accessible across the state. You'll also support SNAP Outreach efforts by coordinating volunteer training and engagement that helps connect eligible Mainers with critical food assistance benefits. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys building relationships, organizing complex programs, supporting volunteers, and creating meaningful community impact. In This Position, You Will: Lead and Grow Maine's Cooking Matters Program Coordinate and oversee Cooking Matters classes, tastings, trainings, and partner activities statewide. Ensure programs are delivered with quality, consistency, and alignment to program standards. Identify opportunities to expand program reach and improve participant experiences. Track outcomes and use data to continuously strengthen program impact. Build Meaningful Community Partnerships Serve as a primary contact for schools, food pantries, healthcare organizations, community groups, and other partners. Cultivate strong relationships that support nutrition education and food access across Maine. Collaborate with partners to address barriers and increase program participation. Support and Mobilize Volunteers Coordinate volunteer scheduling, training, communication, and support for Cooking Matters and SNAP Outreach activities. Work closely with our Volunteer Engagement team to ensure volunteers have the tools and resources they need to succeed. Help create positive volunteer experiences that support program growth and sustainability. Manage Program Operations Coordinate program logistics, materials, supplies, food purchasing, and event readiness. Maintain program records and support grant and reporting requirements. Partner with colleagues across the organization to ensure strong program delivery and community impact. What to Expect Hybrid work that includes remote, office-based, and community-based activities. Regular travel throughout Maine to support classes, volunteers, and community partners. Occasional evening and weekend work for trainings, events, and program activities. Regular interaction with volunteers, partners, and communities across the state. Frequent use of a computer and other office technology, along with occasional transport of program materials and supplies to community sites. Milestones: Within Your First 60 Days: Learn, Connect, and Contribute You'll spend time understanding our programs, meeting partners, learning Cooking Matters curriculum and operations, and building relationships across the organization. By the end of this phase, you’ll be prepared to coordinate upcoming program activities, support volunteers and partners, and identify immediate opportunities to strengthen delivery. Within Your First 6 Months: Lead, Improve, and Strengthen You'll take ownership of day-to-day program management, strengthen volunteer and partner relationships, improve operational processes, and begin identifying opportunities for program growth. By this stage, you’ll be independently managing core program activities and serving as a reliable resource for partners, volunteers, and colleagues. Within Your First 12 Months: Expand Impact and Drive Results You'll lead annual program planning, use data to guide improvements, strengthen statewide partnerships, and help expand the reach of Cooking Matters and SNAP Outreach. By the end of your first year, you’ll have established a clear plan for continued program growth and contributed to measurable improvements in program delivery, volunteer engagement, or community reach. Requirements As a Successful Candidate, You Have: Experience independently managing a program or complex initiative from planning through implementation, evaluation, and improvement. Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse audiences. Experience coordinating volunteers, community partners, or outreach activities. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Comfort using data, reporting, and evaluation tools to guide decisions and measure results. Strong written and verbal communication skills. A passion for improving access to healthy food, nutrition education, and community resources. Additional Experience That Would Be Helpful Experience in nutrition education, public health, community engagement, food systems, or related fields. Experience working with grant-funded programs. Bilingual or multilingual communication skills.
