In this vital role, you will ensure the accurate and timely transmission of medical records, playing a crucial part in patient care and compliance.
What You’ll Do:
- Process Requests: Efficiently handle requests for the release of medical records, supporting coordination of care, legal needs, and quality measures.
- Interpret & Authorize: Become an expert in understanding and interpreting Release of Information (ROI) to authorize the disclosure of protected health information.
- Utilize Technology: Work within our cutting-edge online ticket system to respond swiftly to requests and upload medical records seamlessly.
- Be a Resource: Serve as the go-to source for our medical and clinical teams, guiding them to the location of scanned documents within patients' electronic medical records.
- Maintain Confidentiality: Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality by strictly adhering to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- High school graduate or GED is required; a two-year degree in Healthcare Administration or a related field is preferred.
- One year of previous data entry, health information, or reception experience in a healthcare environment.
- Ability to multi-task and accept requests from clinical staff, patients, and external entities.
- Ability to work both independently and on a team, while prioritizing requests for information.
- Proficiency in using electronic fax, email, and online messaging between team members and staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
- Strong customer service skills; ability to establish and maintain effective communication between the Health Information team and internal or external providers.
- Strong computer and Microsoft Office skills using Word, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize workflow and meet deadlines.
- Skill in identifying problems, problem-solving, and resolution.
