Job Duties:

Bucknell University Department of Athletics is seeking a Coordinator of Events & Operations. This position will have oversight of event/game operations for athletics regular season, post-season, and special events. The Coordinator works closely with internal University offices, as well as the coaching staff, student-athletes, outside groups, and spectators.


This is a 12 month, non-exempt position. This position is part of the Department of Athletics and Recreation at Bucknell University, a member of the NCAA Division I (FCS in Football) and the Patriot League for 23 of 27 varsity sports.

Reporting Relationship:

  • Reports to the Director, Operations & Events


Work Setting/Schedule:

  • Primarily on-campus
  • Requires night and weekend availability

What You Will Do:

  • Event Management
    • Serve as event manager for Division I athletic competition and special events, including Patriot League and NCAA Championships, PIAA High School Championships, and other externally contracted events in athletic facilities
    • Plan, schedule, supervise, and recap the operations of internal and external events ensuring efficient operation to maximize smooth conduct of all games for participants, officials, visiting institutions and fans
    • Coordinate a wide range of areas across campus, including ticket operations, equipment, public safety, technology, sports medicine, and marketing event logistics
    • Schedules event staffing with internal and external constituents through the University scheduling platform, including part time or Work Study facility staff
  • Athletic Operations
    • Manages inventory, stocking and finances of fueling stations
    • Assists senior staff with operational tasks including developing and managing Visiting Team Guides and practice scheduling
    • Responsible for annual Emergency Action Plan updating and disbursement
  • Non Essential Functions
    • The job’s description listed responsibilities and tasks are not exhaustive. Additional non-essential tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as needed

What You Will Bring:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years of related experience
  • Ability to maintain current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must be proactive and able to work collaboratively with multiple user groups demonstrating confidence and knowledge of how events and facilities operate
  • Excellent organizational & communication skills (both written and oral)

Preferred, But Not Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1-2 years events and operations management; within collegiate athletics experience preferred
  • Experience overseeing and scheduling interns, volunteers and casual staff
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules

Physical Requirements:

  • Moderate physical activity. Must be able to carry material weighing over 50 pounds; involves frequent bending, moving and lifting; standing up to eight hours each day
  • Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as working in all weather conditions, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.

The Community

Lewisburg (pop. 5,700) is located in central Pennsylvania and features beautiful Victorian homes, the restored art deco Campus Theatre (owned by the University), a variety of restaurants, shops and boutiques, and the Barnes & Noble at Bucknell University Bookstore. It is the seat of Union County, which has about 44,000 residents.

The city of Williamsport is about a 30-minute drive from campus, and Penn State University’s main campus is about an hour away, as is Harrisburg, Pennsylvania’s state capital. Bucknell is within a three-hour drive of New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
