About Latinos for Education Latinos for Education (L4E) is a national nonprofit on a mission to unite Latino communities to transform education policy and practice so every child can thrive. Founded in 2016 in Massachusetts and now operating nationally and across Massachusetts, Texas, and California, we work at the intersection of leadership development and movement building to drive systemic change in education. Our work operates through two reinforcing pillars: Future Shaping Educators, which develops a new generation of educators and leaders with the competencies, networks, and influence to redesign schools and systems from within; and Movement Building, which organizes Latino families and communities, advances policy advocacy, and shifts the narrative around Latino communities as architects of educational transformation. Together, these pillars generate the leadership pipeline and collective demand required to build an education system that reflects the growing power, culture, and potential of Latino communities. About the Role Reporting to the Director of Policy and Advocacy, the Coordinator, Policy and Advocacy, MA will play a key role in supporting Latinos for Education’s comprehensive statewide advocacy efforts in Massachusetts and policy goals through relationship and coalition building with key state, district, and nonprofit leaders, organizing activities, communication support, logistical coordination and event planning, and research. Responsibilities Organizing Implement an organizing plan for MA coalition members, alumni, fellows, and partners in Massachusetts and the New England region. Support campaign strategies for L4E legislative policy and budgetary priorities. Help organize and coordinate quick and effective responses to unexpected policy challenges. Support the engagement of local, state, and federal elected officials as necessary regarding L4E’s legislative priorities, including organizing meetings with members of the state administration. Logistics Assist with, participate in, and facilitate the coordination of policy development and prep for legislator meetings. Coordinate and attend meetings with key stakeholders such as executive, legislative, municipal, business, and community leaders. Track and execute follow up items from meetings. Manage key information systems for engagement and tracking purposes, including maintaining relationship data in Salesforce. Communications Draft internal and externally-facing written content, such as policy memos, social media messages, or emails directed toward various audiences, such as L4E’s leadership team, policy makers, coalition partners, and key advocacy stakeholders. Draft, edit, and translate key advocacy and strategic documents and presentations to support advocacy and organizing efforts. Research Research, summarize, and track legislation and other key topics relevant to the organization’s policy goals. Assist with the tracking and attending of high-priority advocacy events, such as legislative committee hearings, board meetings, coalition meetings, etc. General Support organizational special projects and initiatives assigned by or approved by the Director of Policy & Advocacy, providing research, coordination, and execution support as needed. Maintain organized systems for files, records, meeting materials, and operational documentation. Provide strategic and logistical support for team meetings, stakeholder events, and organizational events. Travel: This role will require travel within Massachusetts for events, meetings, and convenings approximately twice per month, and will also be required to attend at least one all-organization event per year (location TBD). Specific qualifications include: Required: Experience 2+ years of professional experience. Educational and/or career path aligned with the focus areas of the role. Knowledge of the Massachusetts education policy ecosystem. Executes assigned work within existing timelines and constraints, adapting quickly as circumstances change. Surfaces issues, risks, and emerging policy opportunities and elevates them as appropriate. Project Management Delivers high-quality work in a timely, prioritized way; tracks own progress against milestones and adjusts as needed. Proactively communicates status, dependencies, and potential blockers to supervisor and cross-functional colleagues. Uses AI tools responsibly to organize, track, and communicate progress on tasks and projects. Affinity for planning and coordinating event and meeting logistics preferred. Communication & Influence Adapts communication for a range of audiences (e.g., coalition partners, policymakers, L4E leadership) to build shared purpose. Conveys key messages clearly across mediums (written, verbal, presentations). Listens actively and identifies underlying stakeholder perspectives and needs. Communicates proactively with supervisor and team members to ensure clarity on priorities and decisions. Skills Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, track milestones, and proactively surface risks. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Zoom. Intermediate proficiency with generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude), including the ability to responsibly apply AI to real workflow challenges and document generation tasks. Preferred: Experience Some experience working with Massachusetts legislature preferred. Relationships with key education nonprofits in Massachusetts, including members of the Educator Diversity Act Coalition. Relationships with local and statewide policy makers. Event management experience preferred. Skills Proficiency in Monday.com or equivalent project management software. Experience with Salesforce or equivalent CRM platform preferred. Compensation Latinos for Education offers competitive industry rate salary bands to retain and grow talented individuals. The organization conducts a robust internal and external benchmarking process to ensure that its salaries are competitive. The salary range for this role is commensurate with experience and is as follows: Compensation Band: $52,700 - $71,300 Mid-Point: $62,000 The compensation band mid-point represents the market rate for this position in the Northeast region. A candidate that fully meets the qualifications and experience required for the role can generally expect to be at the mid-point. An offer made to a candidate that is above the mid-point would represent someone who is extraordinarily qualified.
