JOB OVERVIEW The Linguistic Validation External Linguist is responsible for linguistically and culturally interpreting the written material in a way that maintains or duplicates the structure and style of the original text while keeping the ideas and facts of the original material accurate. He/she possesses fluency in two or more languages and outstanding problem-solving skills that allows for them to research industry-specific terminology. The LV External Linguist possesses a strong commitment to accuracy and shows outstanding problem-solving skills when faced with difficult content and instruction. They will build strong relationships with the IQVIA™ Translation Services team and will play a key role in the effectiveness and success of IQVIA™ Translation Services operations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Be a strategic partner in delivering on-time and quality translations to IQVIA clients • Carefully adhere to provided material and instructions to meet the requirements of the clients • Research industry-specific terminology to properly reflect the meaning and tone of the source content • Cross-reference specialized glossaries and translation tools to check the quality of the translation • Quality Check translation jobs before delivery for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy • Work with the IQVIA™ Translation Services team to identify gaps in instructions or any external issue that may affect the commitment to the client. • Flag project-specific queries in a timely manner • Be the point of contact for IQVIA™ Translation Services to assist with quality and on-time delivery investigations related to feedback. • Maintain close communication with Project Management and Vendor Management teams with regards to own capacity REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Native in target language Fluency in source language(s) – spoken and written At least 1 year of experience in translating, reviewing, and/or post-editing medical content Experience with translation management systems and CAT tools (memoQ preferred), as well as proficiency in Excel & Word Freelance (no agencies) PREFERRED • Current resident of the target language country • Translation experience with clinical documents (PROs/COAs/eCOAs) • Prior experience performing any harmonization task within Linguistic Validation of COAs: dual forward translation, reconciliation, back translation, comparison of back translations, etc. If you’re interested and meet our mandatory requirements, please apply!
