Apply Job Type Full-time Description PETA's Corporate Responsibility (CR) team works with major corporations, investors, and industry stakeholders to advance animal welfare through shareholder advocacy and corporate engagement. By owning stock in publicly traded companies across industries, including food, fashion, pharmaceuticals, and other industries, PETA gains direct access to corporate leadership and uses the shareholder process to encourage meaningful change. By drafting and presenting select shareholder questions and resolutions and building relationships with institutional investors and responsible investment organizations, you will engage directly with corporate leaders, analyze emerging business and governance issues, and help shape advocacy strategies that influence some of the world's largest companies. We are seeking a passionate, persuasive, and organized professional who can communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders while advancing PETA's mission through thoughtful corporate engagement. Position Objective: To conduct PETA's work with major corporations, specializing in the management of shareholder initiatives Primary Responsibilities and Duties: • Coordinate PETA’s shareholder work • Draft and present select shareholder questions and resolutions at annual meetings of major corporations • Secure support for our efforts from major institutional investors, endowments, and pension funds • Establish relationships with humane investing groups and organizations • Research the animal and environmental guidelines that are being enforced by major corporations • Research past proxies and voting histories of institutional shareholders on issues related to animals and other issues • Assess our shareholder efforts to advance PETA’s work • Research SEC procedures, deadlines, and information specific to each company's shareholder meeting(s) • Maintain records of companies in which we own stock; eligibility to attend meetings, present questions, and submit resolutions; liaise with our broker and investment firm on all matters related to PETA’s shareholder work • Travel as needed to fulfill job responsibilities • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor Requirements • Degree in a related field or equivalent experience • Minimum of two years of previous experience in corporate governance, investor relations, advocacy, public affairs, public policy, finance, law, or a related field • Demonstrated ability to employ logical reasoning for shareholder work • Proficiency with AI tools, such as CoPilot • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA campaigns • Demonstrated exceptional skills in critical thinking, organization, written and verbal communication, and presentation. • Demonstrated research skills, including literature reviews, data synthesis, and data analysis • Willingness to receive and implement feedback • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work collaboratively, communicate across all levels of an organization, and prioritize team success • Willingness and ability to travel as needed • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. • Professional appearance • Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues • Commitment to the objectives of the organization The salary range for this position is $47,597.00 - $80,168.40 annually. The ultimate salary within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work.
