SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES

It is the responsibility of the Correspondent Senior Business Development Officer to take ownership of all tasks and challenges that they encounter in the operation of their assigned position. This position is responsible for, but not limited to, developing new relationships, and generating new sales with community banks, by marketing current SouthState Correspondent products and services. The position is responsible for maintaining a current working knowledge of all products and services offered by SouthState Correspondent.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This position is expected to perform the specific duties, tasks, and responsibilities as outlined below:

  • Responsible for developing new relationships and maintaining current relationships with our community bank customers, by marketing and driving new sales on current and existing products and services through in-bank, telephone, and written contact.

  • Develop and maintain a general working knowledge of SouthState Bank, N.A., its affiliates and any strategic alliance service offerings.

  • Facilitate the development and maintenance of relationships with Bank Management, Division Management, and Division support personnel to follow-up on business opportunities and/or problems encountered during customer contact.

  • Help plan and schedule visits to all customers and prospects within a defined region and assist in completing contact reports for all visits to customers/prospects.

  • Assist in preparation and presentation of analysis comparisons and other services for SouthState Correspondent prospect institutions.

  • Act as a SouthState Correspondent liaison at both bank-sponsored and external events.

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with market and industry influencers, within a defined region, such as bank consultants, law firms, trade associations, CPAs, etc.

COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent business development/relationship management skills within the banking industry

  • Strong sales ability, preferably in a banking environment

  • Requires strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Outstanding customer service and follow-up skills

  • Familiarity with e-mail systems, Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and basic personal computer skills

Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university

  • Experience: Six to ten years related experience and/or training

  • Certifications/Specific Knowledge: None

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/CLASSES

Required annual compliance training, New Employee Orientation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports., This position requires a large amount of time in front of a computer. This can be done sitting or standing with use of the right desk.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Telecommuting roles no matter if hybrid or 100% full time telecommuting must have a secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions. They must also have a reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by use of cellular data (hot spot). Cable or fiber connections are preferred. Requirements are subject to change, as new systems and technology is delivered.

TRAVEL

This position travels 90% of the time.

In accordance with Colorado and Virginia law: Pay for this position is anticipated to be between $87,282.00 - $139,425.00 , actual offers to be determined based on applicant’s skills, experience and education.
