Hennepin County District Court invites qualified applicants for one Court Operations Specialist position in the Criminal Centralized Unit within the Criminal Division. This is a diverse, professional environment that promotes equity for all court staff and court users. Court Operations Specialists performs advanced court operations work in an assigned unit under limited supervision from their supervisor. This position is highly detail-oriented, provides expert knowledge of court procedures and policies, and involves advanced court operations and case processing work. The Court Operations Specialist serves as the subject matter expert and point of contact for staff with regards to report management and financial case processing. This position will spend a significant amount of time on advanced work including training, quality assurance, compliance, report analysis, and complex case processing with the primary focus on quality assurance and financial processing. This work entails a considerable amount of data entry, customer service, the application of independent judgment in a fast-paced environment, the ability to effectively manage competing demands, and is expected to perform the full scope of varied clerical work involved in case processing. Examples of Duties Report Management - reviewing complex data integrity reports, accessing a variety of resources to research/analyze problems consult with supervisor or leadworker on identified issues or trends. Bond Management - processing petitions filed by bond agencies, routing paperwork to judicial officers, processing complex case updating related to bond filings. Party Record Management - serves as designated subject matter expert for problem solving party records issues. Can include party merge, party replace, and unmerge to change/move corrupt data in collaboration with multiple partnering systems that are impacted. Requires investigation with multiple partnering agencies using Subject Identifier and Locator Services (SILS) to identify appropriate party records. Knowledge in various applications is needed for researching these complex issues. Financial Case Processing – assisting to problem solve Department of Revenue (DOR) collection issues and disputes. Analyze and review complex financial processing reports for fees receivable using critical thinking skills. Serves as a subject matter expert and resource for the division’s job functions for other team members, using advanced knowledge and expertise of criminal court policies, procedures, and processes to answer questions, address complex or unique case processing situations, and solve problems. Train new court operations staff on procedures; provide training on new or changed processes or systems; prepare training materials as applicable; spot check employee work to ensure understanding. Perform the full range of court operations work within the Criminal Centralized Unit (CCU), including but not limited to criminal case initiation, using the electronic case processing system, and any related applications and equipment. Typical Qualifications Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Two (2) years of experience as a Court Operations Associate or equivalent experience As this position will be working partially remotely, access to reliable internet connection is required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Self-directed and demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to independently make decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, and departmental policies and procedures Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with customers and justice partners from diverse backgrounds Ability to effectively resolve customer disputes, issues, questions, or clarify applicable guidelines Flexible and adaptable to changes with workloads, job assignments, new procedures, various computer systems, court trends, and priorities Proficient working in multiple software platforms, including Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn other job-related applications Ability to take direction well and maintain a professional and positive attitude through challenging circumstances Well organized, detail-oriented and analytical with the ability to use independent judgment Ability to provide technical and procedural training to the various learning styles of staff Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure in a high volume, fast-paced work environment with attention to detail and accuracy Knowledge of the organization, operation, function, and jurisdiction of the court Ability to work onsite and remotely Preferred Qualifications Experience with complex financial case processing in criminal case types Experience providing technical and procedural training Experience reviewing work of others for accuracy and providing feedback for corrective action Experience writing job procedures and developing training materials in a clear and concise manner Supplemental Information The Minnesota Judicial Branch (MJB) is committed to providing fair and equal access to justice. Logistics The Criminal Centralized Unit is in Government Center downtown Minneapolis at 300 South 6th Street. Typical hours for this position are 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, with some flexibility based on business needs. Interviews will take place virtually for this position. This position is currently working primarily remote with occasional onsite work on a rotation with the team, depending on business needs. Salary Range The expected starting salary for external candidates is at least $25.50 per hour or higher, depending on qualifications. This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of Minnesota employee benefits .
