Our client is a well-backed, rapidly growing Agricultural Intelligence startup revolutionizing sustainable farming. Backed by a major global industrial venture partner, they build live SaaS and Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) solutions that convert complex field and agronomic data into actionable, predictive insights for farmers and cooperatives worldwide.

Their mission is clear and practical: to democratize next-generation Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and applied agronomic AI, delivering real impact directly into the hands of growers in the field.

The Opportunity: Why This Role Matters

The future of agriculture is shifting from reactive reporting to proactive forecasting. Over the next 12 months, our client is transitioning their platform from showing what happened to predicting what’s coming next.

As CPTO, you will unite Product Strategy, Machine Learning/Data, and Engineering under one vision. You will act as the single product & tech voice on the Executive Team and to the Venture Board, taking complete ownership of transforming raw agronomic data into a trustworthy, commercial predictive engine.

This is a builder’s seat, not a caretaker’s. You inherit real, live products with active users and own the core strategic question: How to turn predictive AI into a high-value product customers love to pay for.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Strategy & Roadmap: Set and defend a single, prioritized product vision across the SaaS platform, cooperative solutions, and the emerging predictive DaaS offering.
• Data & Predictive ML Core: Own the complete ML lifecycle—data acquisition, framing, model development, and rigorous real-world validation to keep production models honest and accurate.
• Lead Data & Engineering Teams: Build, mentor, and guide ML, Data, and Software leads. Balance research exploration with rapid, reliable delivery and commercial execution.
• Define & Ship DaaS: Lead the cross-functional effort to bring the predictive product to market—defining accuracy metrics, feature packaging, and pricing strategy alongside commercial leadership.
• Cross-Functional Executive Leadership:
• Partner with the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) to translate deep agronomic science into scalable tech.
• Partner with the Commercial Director to align product roadmaps with revenue goals and market expansion.
• Serve as the trusted technical authority to the Venture Board.

Who We Are Looking For

• Proven AI/ML Product Leader: Senior executive with genuine technical depth who has shipped commercial products where data and machine learning models were the core engine.
• Commercial Mindset: Proven track record of taking early or prototype ML capabilities and packaging them into scalable, revenue-generating products.
• Leader of Leaders: Strong leadership capabilities to inspire, scale, and coach high-performing engineering and ML teams.
• Executive Presence: Confident product voice across commercial, scientific, and investor stakeholders; able to bring clarity to ambiguous, high-stakes decisions.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in AgTech, Geospatial Data, or Applied Forecasting.
• Background in multi-modal data fusion (combining sparse, heterogeneous data streams).
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks in agriculture, environmental, or food safety contexts.
