We are PLAYAR
We build interactive experiences that people step into instead of scroll past. Mobile AR experience, XR headsets, Magic Mirrors in stores, Interactive web experiences, vending machines that come alive, photobooths powered by AI/AR, installations that make a crowd stop and stare.
We are a compact immersive studio based in Antwerp and we punch well above our weight. Global brands like 2K Games, Netflix, Dior and Amazon trust us to turn ambitions into things you can touch, play, experience and share. We are also a Snapchat global AR partner. The work we produce reaches real audiences in physical spaces, across the web or on major social platforms.
About the role
Two things matter most here. You build interactive digital experiences yourself, hands on in the code. And you can face a client: present a concept, explain a technical choice, and stay calm in the room when something needs solving on the spot. Most people are good at one of the two. We are looking for the person who is good at both.
That looks different every week. One week you are prototyping an AI pipeline. The next you are deep in Unity on a branded game, building an interactive web experience or helping out with an AR experience. Then you are configuring screens and sensors in our office, loading the van and driving to a venue to install and calibrate before doors open. Sometimes you are the face of PLAYAR on location, walking a client through what you built and why it works.
You will work closely with our creative and technical leadership on concept and direction. The interesting part of this job is the space between "here is the idea" and "here is the thing, working." Sometimes you only get a direction, and you figure out the rest. And this role grows. As you take on more of the technical delivery, you take on more of the decisions that come with it: tooling, approach, how we build. You stay ahead of trends in content and technology, bringing fresh insights to the studio's approach. If that sounds terrifying, this is not for you. If that sounds like the job you have been waiting for, keep reading.
What you will actually do
Our toolbox
This is what our projects run on. We do not expect mastery of all of it. Deep in two or three, fast and curious in the rest, is exactly the profile.
Who you really are
An instinct for secure and privacy aware development runs through all of it. Our work stands in public spaces, points cameras at real people and carries major brand names and we build like it.
Practical: you speak English, Dutch is a real plus, and you hold a driving license, because the van does not drive itself.
Honest note
Every project here is different from the last one. New tech, new constraints, new venue, new problems. If you want a role that looks the same in month twelve as in month one, this is not it. If that variety is exactly what you are missing, you will love it here.
