About the role

Beta Health is seeking a Credentialled Diabetes Educator who is also a Registered Nurse or Accredited Practising Dietitian to join our team on a casual or part-time basis. This is an opportunity to provide personalised diabetes education, help people build confidence in managing their health, and work alongside a supportive, multidisciplinary team with a strong focus on evidence-based care. The role will include some paid travel to deliver services.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver individualised diabetes education and support to people living with type 2, type 1 and other forms of diabetes.
  • Assess each person's needs, health literacy, goals and barriers to self-management, and develop practical care plans in collaboration with them.
  • Provide education on glucose monitoring, insulin injection technique, medication use, hypoglycaemia management, sick-day management and prevention of diabetes-related complications.
  • Support the use of continuous glucose monitoring, insulin pumps and automated insulin delivery systems, within your competence and professional scope.
  • Review glucose data and identify patterns to inform education, care planning and communication with the treating team.
  • Collaborate with GPs, endocrinologists, allied health professionals and other care providers to coordinate care and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Involve families, carers and support workers in education where appropriate and with the person's consent.
  • Contribute to group education sessions, patient resources and service improvement.
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical records and clear communication with referring practitioners.

About you

  • Current Credentialled Diabetes Educator status with the Australian Diabetes Educators Association.
  • Either current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse or current Accredited Practising Dietitian status with Dietitians Australia.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in diabetes education and management.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex information in clear, practical language.
  • A person-centred approach that respects individual preferences, cultural backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Sound clinical judgement, including recognising when to seek advice, refer or escalate care.
  • Ability to manage a clinical caseload, work independently and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Confidence using electronic clinical records and relevant digital platforms.
  • Willingness to undertake some paid travel as required.
  • Current right to work in Australia and a National Police Check, or willingness to obtain one.

Benefits

  • A casual or part-time position within a supportive, collaborative team with a strong focus on diabetes care.
  • Competitive hourly remuneration based on experience.
  • Flexible work arrangements, including opportunities for suitable work to be completed from home.
  • Paid travel and benefits where required as part of the role.
  • Access to ongoing training and professional development.
  • Opportunities to contribute to education programs and the development of services.
