Salary: £44,340

Role duration: Permanent (37.5 hours per week)

Location: London, UK (Hybrid - 50% office attendance)

The CRM & Business Systems Senior Officer will play a key role in ensuring the Academy’s core business systems are effective, well managed and continually improved, with particular responsibility for Salesforce and the systems and integrations that connect with it.

Working as part of the Business Information team, you’ll be a key internal specialist for Salesforce, providing practical support and advice to colleagues across the Academy. You’ll undertake hands-on administration and configuration, investigate and resolve issues, and work with teams to understand their needs and translate them into practical system improvements.

You’ll also work across our wider business systems, helping us understand how information flows between platforms, improve integrations and data exchange, reduce duplication and identify opportunities to simplify or automate processes.

On a typical day, you might:

  • administer and configure Salesforce, including users, permissions, reports, dashboards, data and other configuration;
  • investigate a system problem and identify the appropriate solution, resolving it yourself where possible or working with an external partner where specialist development is required;
  • meet with colleagues to understand a business requirement and turn it into a practical systems solution;
  • configure and implement straightforward Salesforce improvements;
  • support testing and implementation of larger developments;
  • support and improve other business systems and integrations;
  • work with external suppliers and development partners to resolve technical issues and deliver improvements;
  • identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce manual work and make better use of automation;
  • support good data quality, reporting, information governance and system documentation; and
  • produce guidance, deliver training and help colleagues make confident and effective use of Salesforce and other systems.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving problems and improving how systems work. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of issues, work independently and proactively identify opportunities for improvement, while building strong relationships with colleagues and external partners.

The role will provide dedicated specialist capacity for Salesforce and related business systems and help the Business Information team take a more proactive approach to systems development and improvement.

Closing Date

Applications must be received by 3 November 2026 at 12pm. We reserve the right to close applications early if we receive a high volume of suitable candidates, so early applications are encouraged.

Interviews

Interviews are expected to take place in person during the week commencing 9 November 2026. Shortlisted candidates will be provided with further details in advance.

We’re looking for someone with substantial, hands-on experience of administering or developing Salesforce in a working environment. You’ll need to be comfortable taking ownership of systems and problems, working independently and explaining technical issues clearly to non-technical colleagues.

Essential

  • Substantial practical experience administering or developing Salesforce in a working environment.
  • Hands-on experience configuring Salesforce, including areas such as objects, fields, permissions, reports, dashboards, flows or comparable functionality.
  • Experience supporting and administering CRM or other business systems, not solely using them as an end user.
  • Ability to understand business problems and translate them into practical, proportionate system solutions.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supporting users and explaining technical concepts to non-technical colleagues.
  • Experience working with data, with a good understanding of data quality and governance.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of issues and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to manage competing requirements and prioritise work effectively.
  • Strong written communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and external suppliers.

Desirable

  • Salesforce Administrator certification or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Experience of Salesforce Experience Cloud.
  • Experience supporting or administering other business systems alongside Salesforce.
  • Experience of system integrations, APIs or middleware.
  • Experience of systems such as payment, email marketing, events, grants, membership or portal platforms that integrate with Salesforce.
  • Experience working with external Salesforce development or support partners.
  • Experience of Microsoft 365 and/or Power Platform.
  • Experience of process mapping, requirements gathering or business analysis.
  • Experience working in a charity, membership body, research organisation or similar environment.

At the Academy of Medical Sciences, we want colleagues to be supported to do their best work while maintaining a healthy balance between work and life.

Our benefits include:

  • Competitive salary and pension
  • 26 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays
  • Option to buy or sell annual leave
  • Additional paid closure between Christmas and New Year
  • Hybrid and flexible working
  • Health, wellbeing and employee support programmes
  • Cycle-to-work scheme and everyday benefits
  • Structured learning and development
  • Enhanced maternity, adoption and paternity leave (subject to qualifying period)
  • Enhanced occupational sick pay.

A range of enhanced benefits become available once you’ve completed your probation period
