CTO – Technology & Engineering

We are looking for a hands-on Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the technology and engineering function at our company.

This is a high-ownership role for someone who can operate at both strategic and technical levels — from defining the technology roadmap and architecture to building the engineering team and shipping products.

You will work closely with the founders and take ownership of the company's overall technology direction.

What you'll own

• Define and execute the company's technology and engineering strategy.
• Design scalable, secure and reliable system architecture.
• Lead backend, infrastructure, DevOps and platform engineering.
• Build and manage a high-performing engineering team.
• Establish engineering standards, development processes and technical best practices.
• Make critical architecture and technology decisions.
• Own scalability, reliability, security and performance.
• Work closely with product and business teams to convert requirements into technical solutions.
• Drive rapid product development without compromising long-term scalability.
• Evaluate and adopt new technologies, including AI/ML where relevant.
• Manage cloud infrastructure and optimize infrastructure costs.
• Establish CI/CD, observability, monitoring and incident-response practices.
• Participate actively in technical discussions and, when required, write or review production-level code.
• Hire, mentor and develop senior engineers and technical leaders.
• Build a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, speed and quality.

What we're looking for

• 7–10 years of strong software engineering experience.
• Experience designing and building highly scalable systems.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and system design.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or OCI.
• Strong backend engineering experience.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containers, CI/CD and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience leading engineering teams and hiring technical talent.
• Strong understanding of databases, APIs, networking, security and infrastructure.
• Ability to make pragmatic architecture decisions under tight timelines.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Startup experience is highly preferred.
• Experience taking products from early-stage development to production at scale is a major plus.

You are not someone who only manages engineering managers.

You are a technical leader who can still go deep into architecture, understand the codebase, challenge technical decisions, solve difficult engineering problems and build the team around you.

You should be comfortable moving between:

Architecture → Code → Infrastructure → Product → Hiring → Strategy
